I'm in Charlotte. Goin' to the Metrolina Expo this weekend?

Is the Expo this weekend? I thought it was a couple of weeks ago. Are they having something other than the 1st weekend of the month deal there?

I wasn't aware they had something the 1st weekend of the month. Do they? Anyway, I mean the Ray Monzingo 80-table show advertised in Beckett for this Sat. and Sun.

Wasn't planning on it, but will be there now. I didn't realize they were having a Sportscard Show this weekend.

The 1st weekend of the month, they have all of the SE area antique & junk dealers. It has been going on for years...

By the way Elemenopeo, that is one cool A&G set....

  • David,

I was actually born in Columbia; however, I'm still a Tiger fan....go figure.

I will also attend the expo show this weekend, and see if I can find some help for my sets.

  • David, I'm in Augusta, GA so I'm less than an hour down the road from you there in Columbia.

Now would be a great time for me to ask if anyone has access to any pictures of the old Crockett Park. I would love to have some pictures of that park to put on my website if anyone can help.
  • I did watch games at that park; it was located in the Dilworth/Wilmore area of Charlotte. Good times and great games until the fire.
  • Greensboro checking in

Fort Mill, SC checking in. What card shops do you visit in the Charlotte area? I go to Grand Slam Baseball cards in Rock Hill.

I'll have to check out that shop in Rock Hill.
I think there's one shop in Columbia, and it Suuucksssss.

I won't be able to get to the expo this weekend, I'm taking vacation back home to OHIO. (nice,,,, If I would have made plans for one week later I would have been able to stop at nationals)

Is that Ronnie Crisps shop in Rock Hill? He opened one there recently.

Is the Charlotte Metrolina show worth going to? I am considering driving 3 hrs or so to it on friday. I live in Southern WV about 3 hrs from Charlotte.

Jim is the owner of Grand Slam on Cherry Road. Where is the other shop in Rock Hill?

I think it's a good show (not that I've been to many others), but I personally wouldn't drive three hours each way for it. Three hours roundtrip -- maybe.

Also, there was a shop in Matthews that I visted two or three times a couple years back. I assume it's still there, but outside of eBay, the show at the Expo is the only other place I ever do any card shopping anymore.
  • The Expo show isnt bad, it definitely attracts people from all over the region. Anyone remember the old sportscard and knife show that used to be at the merchandise mart in charlotte years ago?

  • Thanks for the tip, I go to the antique shows the first weeknd of the month. I didn't realize there was a sportscard show. I called the number earlier and spoke with Ray, very nice guy. I asked him if there were going to be any autograph dealers there. he said there was.

There is also a FLEA MARKET the same day. I'll go early for that and then the show.

I was looking at the new Beckett and noticed some shows at the Rock Hill Mall. It looks like your guy (Ronnie) is doing them. I think they are going to have 30 tables. IThe next show is the weekend of Aug. 11th. I think I will have to check it out when I get back from the National.
