AZEstateSales isn't bad if you hit them when they first list the lot of cards they have up. Dave bought a raw Gene Hickerson that came back a PSA 8. I, after reading that, bought one myself and it's a 4.

Add yvettesattic to the list of Ebayers one would be wise to avoid.

why wouldnt the thread last? an alternative solution would be to simply set up a webpage on a free site like webspawner and you could add names to the list.

Imagine PSA's lawyers getting 200 calls from sellers who state they did nothing wrong and members using CU to fraud/slander them.

Add TANZNITE to your list of bidders to block..... just avoid his bids, you'll be much happier in the long run.

Geez, that is hard to believe.

I've had numerous transactions with him and all have gone perfectly.
I bought a card recently from him and it was delivered quickly. I've also sold him at least 10 different cards in multiple transactions and all went off without a hitch. Some were from ebay and some were completed off ebay. Never a problem at all. In fact, I would highly recommend doing business with him to anyone.

So if you don't mind me asking, what were the problems you had with this person?

See, this is the brilliance of this thread. Tanzinite was nailed by one guy but then others come to his defense. Some boards only focus on the negative. There is also a CU Feedback thread at the link below that has other information.

    Hi Favrefan,
I did read the other thread. It's filled with great news about positive trading/selling experiences which is excellent. But what does that have to do with someone being mentioned in this thread as a deadbeat with no explanation of what transpired to make that person regarded in a negative light here?

Unless there's details forthcoming from you (I think you edited his name off your list) and Onefasttalon who agreed with you, I will regard TANZNITE as a great ebayer. The other people mentioned I'm not familar with.

So did you change your mind on the guy or post his name from something someone else said about him?

Not trying to start an argument, just trying to see what your thinking in his case.

    Regards,
    Rich

I agree with you cardbender. We need some rationale to put someone on the list. We are taking people at their word here and that could lead to some problems just like this. I am removing the NPB at this time from the list because we only have one person complaining.

Onefasttalon, before you drag a name through the mud in a public forum, you better work on your communication skills to make sure you have all the facts straight. I told you I sent you a money order for the item I won from you two weeks ago. I just faxed ebay proof that I did to get rid of the "non-paying item strike" you left me. I admit I have been slow in getting payments out at times, but I do pay for them. As I told you in my ebay correspondances, I take responsibility for my screw-ups. This is NOT one of them and your feedback is absolutely unwarranted. Dragging my name through the mud here makes it even worse. Please work on your communication skills to resolve issues like this. It's very easy to do, I promise!!!!

Thanks for the kind word from others. I appreciate it.

Horrible customer service with threats in emails.
Gives exact shipping quote from USPS ($29.50) then charges double on top of it (actual price under $14.00).

One of the bigger @$$es I've dealt with on Ebay.

Hmm to go along with cardbender and itzagoner ( By the way Jeff i love your logo image I have had many many smooth transactions with Kelly that go into the many of thousands of dollars and always have found him to be a man of his word, Both on and off ebay. So agree you need to be careful of throwing stones .

Kelly (Tanzanite) was the high bidder on three of my cards and took a while to pay, but he did come through. For what it's worth, I don't feel he's a bad person to do business with.

Kelly, not to tell any person how to conduct business, but I used to buy using money orders exclusively, but I found I wasn't getting payments out fast enough. Once I signed up with paypal, everything went smoothly. As a buyer, there's really no reason to not use it. Just a suggestion, not trying to be a jackass.

YOU know i just had to add this point to my defence of Kelly and it should never even been need how in the world to you question this.
How do you say it the proofs in the pudding or black and white in this case.

DO you think this amazing set could have ever been done by not paying for items

    Owner's Comments:
This was my first football set I collected as a seven year old kid in upstate New York. As I upgrade this set, it brings back fond memories of my trading (and flipping) these cards with friends, the Dick Anderson, Carl Eller and Mercury Morris cards standing out as my favorites. Thus far, PSA 10 = 26.7% (141), PSA 9 = 69.3% (366), and PSA 8 = 3.6% (21) of my collection. In addition, 56 of the 58 Hall of Famers (with Gene Hickerson, Charlie Sanders, and Roger Wehrli recently inducted) contained in this set are PSA 9s or 10s so far, needing Larry Little and Jimmy Johnson. The Pro Bowlers listed are from the 1972 Pro Bowl Roster. My ultimate goal for this set is to: (1) acquire all 528 cards in PSA 9 or higher, (2) have PSA 10s comprise at least 20% of this collection (Completed June 14, 2006), and (3) have at least one PSA 10 for each team set (Completed May 6, 2006). Unfortunately, Jim Kearney and Mike Sensibaugh have no cards graded higher than a PSA 8 yet.

Though I had an awesome run of vending cards I submitted myself to complete most of my set, I would like to thank the following for helping me complete this set from whom I would not have gotten my set to this level: A.J. (terribas), Richard Caan (icaancards), Robert Cooper (marks_fbcards), Discount Sportscards (DSL), Jeff Gray (Itzagoner), Steve Hart (bbcardexchange), Art Miller, Andy Montero, Jeremy Murphy (thefootballcardstore), Jeff Ratzer, The Best of Yesterday (sandyandy), and Peter Velasquez (Puckhd27). Thank You!!!

Nice post Art. Kelly truly has an outstanding FB set he's built thru a lot of time, patience, perseverence, love of the set, and money. Agree 100%.

Sorry Favrefan, I guess I didn't know where you were coming from
    on your posts.

I do like your idea of listing bad ebayers too, although one hiccup in one deal with someone doesn't mean their name automatically belongs on such a list. Maybe on a consensus list, if enough board members have had many run-ins with this bad buyer/seller type.

But yes, definitely the bad guys do belong here if they've screwed with many others in this hobby. The sellers that reseal packs, those types, and the deadbeat buyers who never complete transactions many times over. These types should be outed.

My blocked bidder list is up to 150 and I'm always happy to add more to it if it's warranted.

As I have stated in the past concerning sharing of BBLs and such. Just because I have a bad experience on Ebay with a buyer or seller does not mean it happens to everyone they deal with. By adding them on the word of one person you may be shooting yourself in the foot.

Thanks again for the the kind words. I really do appreciate it.

FavreFan- sorry if my response brought a negative twist to this post, but I am going to defend myself if I get outed for unwarranted reasons. I am no way perfect and will take repsonsibility for my wrong-doings if warranted, but this was a bunch of crap. Hopefully, the other member will bring this back into a private forum between he and I.

Lee- thanks for the suggestion, and no, you are not being a jackass. I did use Paypal for numerous years until I got royally screwed over for large $$$ by Paypal as a seller two years ago because of their screwed up policy no matter how right, in principle, I was. I could use them as a buyer, but I refuse to for the principle of it- I'm stubborn that way. I have also used money orders for numerous years, and this is the first instance somebody claimed not to have received it. It has happened before with a personal check, which was easy- just write another check, but never a money order.

I'm not a big fan of getting into these sorts debates, but I figured I'd better shed some light on the "facts."

Ebay item sold June 20th... invoices sent on the 20th, 23rd, and 27th. .... all to which I get no responses.
Filed a payment reminder on June 28th...
On the 6th of July (8 days later) I finally get word from the buyer (through Ebay) that payment 'is in the mail.'
I was patient enough to wait another 10 days ... still no payment.
At this point, I gave up... I file the non-paying strike, and prompyly leave negative feedback... as was deserved.

.... this of course, opened the floodgates of contact from my buyer....

Within the hour, I get retalitory negative feedback and an email demanding that I send the card that hasn't been paid for.

Now, thus far, I've been as patient as any can ask for... but I don't think I'll be doing any more business with this particular Ebay'r.
Any non-paying bidder gets added to my list of blocked bidders.... I'm assuming if you're a seller you do the same thing.

    ...This was my rationale....

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

Man A 9.99 sale you guys need to work it out
  • Options
This opened a floodgate of responses from me on ebay because the payment reminder you sent me on July 5th, which I responded to immediately as I sent payment before your reminder, and the negative feedback you left me today, which I am also responding to immediately, were the ONLY forms of communication from you whatsoever. These other supposed invoices and payment reminders are a bunch of bull%$#@ as ALL email and ebay messages you claim to have made are NOT anywhere in my email or ebay accounts.

Block me from your listings. I have ABSOLUTELY NO problem with that. But, do not drag my name, or anyone elses for that matter, through the mud in a public forum WITHOUT having all the facts and without communicating whatsoever!!!

I have blocked buyers on my ebay account, but NOT ONCE have I placed their usernames on a public forum like this.
  • Options
Thanks Art, and I did I try to work it out. The sale is not at issue with me. My name being dragged though the mud unjustly is the issue with me and I will defend myself accordingly.
  • Options
This is excatly why BBLs and other stuff should NOT be shared. Looking at the feedback of both parties here it appears this is a freak thing by both as neither appear to be bad buyers or sellers.
  • Options
There does need to be some rationale to make a list of names public. I'd have to think this thread is dangerously close to going poof.

FavreFan- Maybe a yahoo-type group would be better for keeping info like this. A group where members must be approved by a mod, posts that aren't 100% accurate can be deleted and posters/posting can be controlled by a mod. It wouldn't be public any longer and could still be a useful tool for buyers and sellers using these boards.

I hear you tanzanite. That would be a good explanation about why not to use paypal. I totally see where you're coming from and I would probably do the same in your case.

Based on the issues between onefasttalon and tanzanite, I'm going to pose a question for everyone to answer just to give both of these guys an idea of who was more-so in the wrong with their transaction.

Obviously, communication in any dealing is key. Especially if there is an issue or problem.

The question is, in this case who is responsible for initiating an e-mail dialogue here? The buyer or the seller?

    Jason

Lee, great idea on the Yahoo groups or something like it.

This was a good idea but it got blew out of proportion and I am not going to update it anymore.

For payment not recieved the seller should initiate any contact. I send invoice right away, then another on day 3 then on day 6. If no repsonse I file a UPI on Day 7.

The yahoo thing wasn't my idea, but it's good considering PSA will probably take down this thread.

I think the buyer initiates the contact by sending an invoice.
Every seller is entitled to follow though the way they see fit, but
I don't feel there's a reason to send payment reminders after 3 days or 6 days or whatever.

If you send out the invoice and state when the payment is due by, that should be enough notice for the buyer.

If the buyer doesn't send payment either by mail or paypal within the stated time frame, the seller takes the next step in the payment process. Again, the sellers expectations should be stated right in the description so there's no wiggle room for interpretation.

If the buyer doesn't pay within the stated time frame, or if their payment gott lost in the mail or they overlooked the invoice, or were on vacation, then you work it out via email.

I honestly think a 15 day due date for payment is reasonable for both parties. Then I would file a non-paying bidder alert after that. Then the buyer has another 7 days to get the seller the payment. After those 22 days, if no payment arrives, it's neg. time and they get added to the blocked bidder list. These seem like reasonable expectations to me.
