Traveling baseball card exhibit in Cleveland during the National

I remember a recent thread about a traveling baseball card exhibit that will be in Cleveland while the National convention is there. I will be at the National on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and was wondering if anyone still had this information. Venue, address, hours of availablity, etc....

Also, the Indians are on the road that weekend, so besides the Rock and Roll hall of fame, can any Ohio members chime in with some fun things to do in that area after the show ends (the show probably around 6PM each day)

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are driving, about an hour away is one of the best amusement parks in that part of the country.

The Indians have 2 minor league teams in the area. The Akron Aeros are a AA team about an hour south of the IX center and the Lake County Captains are a Single A team about an hour east of the IX Center. Both stadiums are awesome, both teams put on a good show at a great price. I am sure if you check out the Indians.com website they will link you to schedules, directions, etc...I live in the Cleveland area and go to 4-5 game a year at those two sites and always have a good time. Touchy touchy. You made a simple mistake, don't beat yourself up over it.

Thanks for the minor league info John, and for not quoting the rock and roll hall of fame hours to me. LOL Sorry, I couldn't resist. image

I live about 10 minutes from the I-X center (where the National is) It is located on the Southwest part of Cleveland..not actually in the heart of the city. You will have to go "downtown" to go to Rock Hall and and Great Lakes Science center which has the Baseball America exhibit. I posted those pics of it previously.

If you havn't been to yet...I reccomend going to Canton which is about 45 min-hour from the I-X center..maybe closer depending on where you are staying. The football Hall of Fame induction is the samw eekend I beleive, and thay have autograph signings and ALOT of festivities. Its truely an experiece. I posted the pics from Troy Aikman's induction last year on this forum. PM me if you want anymore info.

If you are into amusement parks, Cedar Point in Sandusky (about 45 mins. west of Cleveland) is one of the best parks in the country.
The Browns training camp in Berea is VERY close to the IX center...not sure of the dates, but you could catch a practice. I would think their website would have info.

Thanks for all the info Bowman, it must have been your thread I was thinking of.

the two suggestions about the Football Hall of Fame and Cedar Point are both great suggestiions, both within a few hours of Cleveland. There is also another amusement park which is Geauga Lake which is also nearby. It's not as flashy as Cedar Point but still worthwhile. Geauga Lake has a water park which is included in the admissiion price....Cedar POint has one also but it's an additional charge.

NO, I didn't make a mistake.......I was trying to nicely inform you ( and others that might read this thread) that in case you had made plans for the R&R HOF AFTER 6PM, you could ONLY do it on Saturday.

In all honesty, this is probably the best amusement park in the entire free world. If there are any roller coaster junkies here who haven't made it to Cedar Point yet I would strongly recommend canning a day at the National for a day here. Just don't ride the Ripcord with a hungover Hungarian woman. I speak from experience.

A little bird told me that it was open late on Saturdays but closes early on Fridays and Sundays. I don't know the specific hours, but I hope this helps.

Thank you Alnavman, you are a good man, but my asking for the hours was a little joke on the thin skinned lostdart because in my OP I had said "besides the rock and roll hall of fame" and his post directly after mine, as if he didn't even read it, was about some of the hours of operation of that particular attraction. He did mean well though, bless his heart.

Cleveland Browns training camp runs July 27 - august 23 in Berea, Ohio. The camp is literrally 10 minutes away from the IX center and practices are free to the public. I take my son at least once or twice every year and it is pretty neat. You can get pretty close to the players as the yare running drills, scrimmaging, etc...Cleveland Browns website did not give open practice times yet. Neat, free thing to do after spending all your cash on cards! John

Also, if none of this appeals to you I heard there's a new baseball card themed novel out that should be a good read if you're just looking to pass some time. I can't think of the name off hand; maybe a board member here can provide some details?

Maybe three of four more threads on that book would be in order.

I'm currently writing a novel that centers around a guy who goes to the National and buys a 1989 Bowman factory set, only to open it up and find a 1952 Topps set in mint condition. Upon hearing about this, Mr. Mint sends a team of ninjas after the guy to procure the set. It's really exciting, and you won't believe the twist at the end.....

Lost - You are an angry, unpleasant man, and I don't particularly care for you. In the short time that i've been here I've seen that a lot of your posts spew negativity (ie - this thread wont be here long, ie - oh yeah that what we need another thread like that, etc....) Get happy or get lost...dart58. Go pet a puppy for God's sake.

Another very funny line Lee. Let me reassert my decision to vote you CU Poster of the Year when the big day comes along near the end of the year.
