That's great to see they're doing so well. I'm impressed with the amount of people they employ.

We're currently slowly redoing a house in Cheektowaga, probably be here a couple more years before the wife forces a move to Williamsville or Amherst...image

It amazes me that Dave & Adams has had that much success as to grow the business into triple digits for employees. Not sure how diversified they are in their business or what model they use, but let it not be said there are no margains to be made in the modern hobby segment since so much of what they do is new wax. Like BBCE they have a very good reputation and people are willing to pay a premium for the peace of mind, so perhaps that has something to do with their success as well.

Amherst is nice, but there is a lot of development. Too bad about the Sabres with Drury. I still think they have enough talent to compete and finish in the top 5 next year. Anything can happen in the playoffs, especially if Miller gets hot.

If you ever go into Dave and Adams Store on Sheraton (my wife is from Pendleton) they have bins of loose unopened packs...packs from mostly 80's up, football baseball and hockey ...great for little kids....i bring in my nephews and spend $40 and they come out with a shopping bag full of packs! great ripping fun with them.....they also have a great collection of Game Used Items (mostly hockey stuff off course) fun store to visit....

  • Nice read - thanks for sharing. I've always liked them: easy to deal with, good prices, quality merchandise. Good to see they're doing so well.

Aren't they the ones Topps stopped selling various products to....because they were undercutting all the other dealers' price?

Its funny, I live about 10 or 15 minutes away from D&A and have never been there. I plan on going tomorrow to pick up some stuff for my nephew to rip on the way to the Blue Jays-Mariners game on Friday. It will be his first major league game.

I am trying to get him interested in baseball and card collecting. He likes the Yankees and plays ball, but is not real familiar with the players. I usually see him once every week to two weeks and give him some cards. He seems to like them, especially the 1993 Topps Jeter.
  • TJ - just make sure you go to the one on Sheridan - I accidently went to the main warehouse once, couldn't get past the girl at the front desk... If you're just looking for some cheap stuff to rip, you'll definitely find it there - last time I was there it was about all they had in stock, I think I picked up an 85 Topps vending box and that was some of the older unopened material...
