Cooperstown
Last week me my dad and little brother went on a pilgrimage to baseball heaven. I think I could have spent the rest of my life there. We stopped in PA near philly to see family for a few days and then went up to Cooperstown. On the way back we stopped in DC to watch the Nationals play the Brewers at RFK and then again in Richmond to see the Braves AAA facilities even though they did not have a game. We even got a private tour of the Braves stadium, The Diamond. We had a blast and here are pictures. Sorry for the size but I figured you guys would want to see the detail on these treasures, however if I need to resize them I will. Also, these aren't all of the pictures I took, probably half.

Sorry for the Blur on the Wagner, but it's in a dim room and the flash did nothing but make it too bright.

Very nice pictures.
Don't pay attention to the loser on the left
<< <i>Dont you just love that Museum! I go there 2-3 times a year. I am less than 2 hours from Cooperstown. What a great place to stay for relaxation. A great golf course too if you are in to that sort of thing. >>
It's truly amazing. After we spent about 4-5 hours in the museum, we spent another 3-4 walking through all of the shops on main St. I wish I lived closer than a 20+ hour drive haha.

Goot, why did you wear a wig into the hall of fame.
<< <i>I am actually going camping near there in two weeks. Im sure I'll go and check out the shops one day. I just hope it doesnt rain! Did you look at vinage, modern, or a mix? The BEST store to just go in and wow yourself ...I think it's called "National Pastime"??? But has some great stuff and so much that you have to really look closely. Last time I went in I saw an early 1900s Ty Cobb Silk. Incredible! >>
Yeah the stuff is great. I think we went into just about every store on the street. I know it's the baseball hall of fame and stuff but I also didn't expect that many card shops. The one thing that I thought was weird was that not a single store carried a hank aaron t-shirt which I was hoping to find. The lake that the town is on is beautiful too.

You've really given me the bug to go there this year. I've never been and it's always been one of my dreams. I'll be staying with a friend in August to see a Red Sox game, maybe he will let me crash an extra night or two so I can make the 3.5 hour drive out there.
You said you were looking for an Aaron shirt, are you a Braves fan or just an Aaron fan?
I will note that I have not been to the Music Hall of Fame in Ohio, but I doubt it comes close.

Turns out that a 14 hour drive from Tennessee to NY wasn't what she had in mind...
Oh well, someday...
Haven't been there since I was a kid in about 1980
Good times.
Thanks for sharing
<< <i>Cool pics! Does anybody know when they added the baseball cards? I was there in 2000 and either they weren't there or I totally missed them? >>
They've been there every time I've visited (about 7 or so). I remember seeing them way back in the early 80's.
If anyone has any interest in the game, the HOF is a must see!! There is so much and they have a warehouse that they rotate memorabilia from. I think it would be the coolest job someone could have.
And what's with the red eyes?
A little smoky, smoky to enhance the experience?
Haven't been there since I was 10 years old. Its been 20 years too long.

When entering the actual HALL, it is like entering a church. Everyone whispers and all are respectful...awesome!

Yes, this is VERY cool.
A few 19th Century cards
Stan Musials Locker
A great Big Red Machine collage
One of Babe Ruth's bats
1996 NY Yankees WS Trophy
One of Don Mattingly's Gold Glove Awards
And finally, one for the Phillies fans! The Philly Fanatic!
Went back in 2003 just to visit the HOF again and found several new shops with memorabilia that were not there in 84.
There was once a card show there during induction weekend ran by a fellow named Fellowell I believe that attracted some great dealers back in 84 remember paying $110 for a 1959 Fleer Ted Williams set with Card #68.
Cooperstown is definetly a must see for any real baseball fan and family.

What I wanna know is how did he sneak that 4 foot water bong inside there
Really nice pics , thank you for sharing those with us Mr.Goot
Are the Cooperstown card shops generally for tourists (i.e. inexperienced in the world of cards) and thus, really overpriced? If so I'm glad I've been collecting for a while because a trip to the museaum would make me want to go on a card buying binge!
