Tough grades???

Is it just me or has PSA got tougher on their grading? I have seen many people very unhappy with their grades lately.

I have to agree. It seems like the recent "poppage" results have had a lot less 9's and a WHOLE let less 10's. As a matter of fact, very few 10's seem to be popping lately....makes me nervous....

Probably due to the new grader(s). I've been given the impression that the new guys are a little more gun shy when it comes to creating wealth for submitters. Six months from now things will probably return to the standards we've become accustomed to.

I would be more nervous if they were handing out 10s like candy. I try to think of it like this....if I am buying a 9 then I know it's going to be a real nice card and for less money. PSA 10s should only be handed out to those cards that truly deserve it though no company is perfect. Isnt it also true that more than one grader has to agree on a 10? I may be wrong about that.

I think for each card they first have two associate graders grade it, then a more senior grader to review their grades. I think...

  • I actually did pretty good on my last order. I was expecting quite a few 10's and got like 18 out of 29 modern cards submitted. It isn't always like that of course, sometimes you end up with more 9's and less 10's.
