My grandfather used to say "If someone bought it then you sold it too cheap"......

You know when you put stuff in your store and you try to come up with some pie in the sky price that you might get if the right guy sees the card, and then finally settle on an amount? And even then you say to yourself "No way, that price is too high" but decide to let it fly anyway? Then a few days later when somebody buys it, you say to yourself "I think I let it go too cheap"?

Auction

I realize there's no way I should regret listing this because by all accounts, this card should not sell for over $100. But I think maybe it would've gone higher if I sent it to auction. Am I crazy?

    HA-HA!

You sold too cheap and now regret it!

But seriously, with low pops, especially 1/2, you never know where it will end up.

That seems to happen to me quite a bit, where I list something, and it goes fast.

I also agree with Stown, low pops get could go anywhere.

Not sure I ever had an Aikman or Emmitt 1995 Jaguars. I have just about every other Cowboy though.

Danny, I think that's GregM13 who has those cards. Double check the BST board.

Lee-Nice job on the Bo. Your grandfather is a smart man. I've often had items that I tossed out (my PSA 10 Steve Tasker comes to mind) I put a "pie in the sky" BIN on it of $79.99 and it sold in 8 minutes. I don't even know how they found the auction that fast. Usuallly takes me an hour to find my stuff via the search tool. (Somebody knows something I don't) Gotta love $110 for a Bo though. image

If my PSA 10 Sanders and Aikman also get $110 I know I sold them too cheap.

envoy- I think you can have it set up where if something is listed that meets your keywords, ebay will send you an email linking that item. Your guy probably had "Tasker PSA 10" set up so that he got an email any time a Steve Tasker PSA 10 came along.

(ps- I have another Bo PSA 10)

I have that too. (Saved Searches it's called). Problem is, I usually get the emails a day late and at 2 am. For example, I had a saved search set up for 1991 Pro Set John Randle. I just listed a couple psa 8 and 9's on Saturday and got the emails at 2am this morning. That gives someones else a long time to find those auctions before me. (Usually Mike of mikescardcloset fame) image

Better bump the old BIN on the Aikman and Sanders.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

The problem with cards like that is you usually only have 1 buyer that is willing to go off on that card so if you send it to auction you have nobody to bid against him.
So you start at 9.99 and he bids and your card sells for around $20...

I just sold a robin yount OPC psa 9-- thats right 9 -- for $65... if i put it up for auction, i doubt it would end higher then $10-$15..

    Roger-

I have a f pop 1 bo jackson psa 10 (1991 FLEER #416)... mind throwing your guy an e-mail. I will give you 15% finders fee.

Roger, if you click his name from the auction you should be able to contact him through ebay.
  • RogermnjRogermnj Posts: 1,809 ✭✭
Yes i know i could do that. For some reason, I don't like contacting buyers like that. Don't want them to think I am shady or "stalking" them. Once someone buys something from me I dont mind telling them about cards I have that they might also be interested in.

    Roger-
  • Josh,

Thanks for the heads up on Greg's list! He does have a Aikman & Irvin PSA10.

Damn, you guys got me in the 90's team sets now! I had a rule limiting my purchases to pre 1990. Who in the hell invented this hobby?

Bird watching is a hobby. Knitting is a hobby. This is an addiction like crack.

But I kicked the crack habit...

  • Lee, you hit the nail on the head...it IS an addiction! I find myself thinking about cards even when I'm at work.

For whatever reason, I just think that is darn hilarious.

The Sanders just sold. Can't imagine the Aikman will be too far behind. It's weird that some rare oddball stuff sells so high and some you can't give away.
