Bill, this large 4 centesimos copper is absolutely magnificent. image

I briefly owned a very similar in its reverse design 2 centesimos full red specimen from Paraguay, but it wasn't even close. There's something about its colour that makes it totally irresistible.

Edited to add image of the 2 centesimos:

Collecting South American coins is wonderful, you can acquire old beauties and keep the farm too.

The photo doesn't do the 1827 Peru real justice - it has iridescent color and luster especially on the reverse, I really need to re-image that one.

I agree with Syracusian, and his Uruguay 10 centesimos is a looker as well.

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

It's an 8 escudos (gold coin) pattern, apparently struck in copper.

    Here's a regular issue:

Maybe the original poster might want to consider changing the title of this thread from

"TGIF: let's see your South American coins!"
    to
"TGIF: let's see your Latin American coins!"

because the thread seems to be attracting pictures of attractive coins from Central America as well as those of South America.

Great coin, 2russianCents! I have one like that but it's so very well worn as to be hardly considered "good"!
