So Cash is no longer used on eBay?

I got my listing cancelled because I accept cash as a payment? The polcy they cited lists a trillion ways to accept payment but as far as I could tell it did not say, cash no longer be used.

You can accept cash. You just can't advertise that fact.

You can accept cash but only on in-person pickup. You're not allowed to mention cash otherwise.

I just sold an old toyota truck I was done with, and listed cash in person and it was ok.

You can take cash, but as the other posters said, you can't mention it anywhere in your description. I bulk listed 400 autographed cards recently using an old template I had and eBay quashed ALL of them. At least they refund your listing fees but the inconvenience was very annoying.

Incidentally, they also canceled a post that did not mention cash as a payment option but included the name Norm Cash (Tigers 1B in the 1960s),

Why does it even need to be mentioned. I mean who is gonna NOT accept cash on ebay?

I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

Yes, well I still have old listings in my store than mention cash as an option and they have NOT been pulled. So whatever screening they are doing is for NEW listings at time of posting and was put into place within the last year or so.
  • Either that or they have not been reported yet, most of the Ebay listings that get pulled are due to being reported not some screening program
  • i cant imagine sending cash through the mail these days.
  • I sold a 1970 Namath graded by SGC a week ago and the buyer sent $23.00 in CASH. I almost jokingly emailed them to tell them that I received an empty envelope but just didn't have the heart.
  • I think this is really dumb though that you can't mention it. I'm sure ebay fraud has almost been eliminated now that sellers can't mention they accept cash as a form of payment. I wish they'd spend their time doing better things. I had about 30 auctions running about a month ago, they all mentioned cash and four of the 30 got pulled while the others all ran their duration.

  • That was because the 4 were reported. Most of the listings pulled on Ebay are due to the listings getting reported. There are some sellers who do nothing but report their competitions smallest mistakes to eliminate them.

Stupid ebay rule. I don't mention I accept cash either in my listings, but I seem to get envelopes with cash payments about once every two weeks. It's fine with me.
