2007 Topps Jeter error

Can someone shed some light on this error card for me? How does G.W. and Mickey Mantle get into the background of a card in error? Are they putting out error cards on purpose now? I don't get it.

There's probably 10 threads here discussing this topic. Do a search for Jeter in the SC&M Forum.

I have one autographed by Jeter, Bush and Mantle if anybody's interested in buying it.

  • Sorry for not searching. I'm so used to a different style message board I'm still getting used to this one. Thanks for the replies!
    Peace.

My son was born 2 1/2 months early, and over the past month and a half I was living in the hospital, sorry, not up on things. Not to mention I've just gotten back into collecting after 15 years after I aquired my father's vintage collection after his passing in October.
Thanks to all who answered without the sarcasm.

CC, hope everything is ok with the kid. I've got one coming and I've been getting some of those "what if" fears lately.

    Welcome to the boards.

Im a sarcastic guy so I cound't care less, not about all your troubles (good luck with all that by the way), but about being called sarcastic. I've been called worse by better.
  • I'm not calling anybody anything, just your comment. And no biggie anyways, just thought I'd explain my lack of knowledge so I don't look like a complete fool.
The baby is good so far; breathing (majority of the time), eating, digesting. I've been so stressed that the only day of the week that I recognize is Monday, being the first day of work. First baby for us so it's been pretty grueling.

Getting back into card collecting/selling has really gotten me through it though. I forgot how much I enjoyed it in my youth. I should be a regular on here now, hope that doesn't make anyone roll their eyes, lol.

No, it does not. Sarcasm, and foolishness are not one in the same. Now this just may be my own thoughts, but if I were going to interrupt other adult's conversations with misinformed information, then I'd make sure I knew that already. Now let me add a smiley so this isn't taken the wrong way. image

Welcome to the boards! I hope everything continues to improve for your son. Lengthy stays in the hospital can be very stressful and tiring. Hopefully getting back in to card collecting will be a nice escape for you.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, the hospital stay was brutal. My g-friend was in there for two weeks before the baby was born. I felt so guilty that I got to go home after work for a couple hours or here and there on the weekends. Even doing laundry and cleaning was a gift. I felt like I was returning to jail going back to the hospital to watch tv and sleep every night. Plus the obvious stress of the situation.

Man, getting back into collecting after all these years has really been quite the comforting activity for me. I look forward to talking with you all on a regular basis. One weird note; It is only semi-recently that I have been introduced to the whole "grading" thing. I sent my first 12 in to PSA this week. Looking forward to getting them back. All vintage pre-1970 and in really nice condition. Back in the day I just told you that this was a nrmt or ex card and you probably told me otherwise, lol. No grading services back then. I like it better this way, lol.
    Peace.

There is nothing more relaxing than opening up a box of cards and all the packs within. The 2007 Topps set is a nice set with some nice inserts in there. To really get back into the feel of things and to get your mind off of your stresses you should pick up a box or two of each series and just spend an evening opening up the packs, going through your pulls, and frankly just enjoying the hobby. The 2007 series really helped get me back into the hobby with a bit more intensity as it's the first series in over 10 years that I've tried, and succeeded, in putting together by hand. image

Ok, rather than clutter this place up with more Jeter threads, I figured I'd use this one. I stumbled on this video while on youtube. It basically says that topps planned the card and it was in fact no error at all and they just wanted to "have fun" aka make more money.
