<< <i>Do the differenciate those cards as scratched or not on their flips?? >>
They shouldn't even be grading "scratched" 1980 Topps. Scratched 1980 Topps hockey cards are like a Red Man without the tab or perforated 1980 Topps basketball.

Really? I don't know hockey, and my opinion is worthless, but that seems dumb to me. The Red Man tabs are part of the card that gets physically cut away from the rest of the card. This is still the complete card.
Good guess Jackstraw. Thats a bad error on psa's part and not the first time they have messed up one of my submissions. Not knocking them just saying fact. Im sure with the amount of cards they grade everyday mistakes will happen but like what was stated thats a big diffrence in selling prices for a morenz and a meeker. I was going to send it back but just cant be bothered as its a pain for me.
ALWAYS LOOKING TO BUY HIGH GRADE79/80 OPC HOCKEY !!! & Upper Deck "Ice Scripts" Cards

This Gretzky is still "complete" but a lot of this has to do with the finicky tastes of collectors. Scratched 1980 Topps hockey has been considered the b@stard child of the unscratched versions for a long time. Even the first hockey Beckett back in 1990 listed them as 50% less.
<< <i>But what about 1958-1961 Topps football. They will grade them if they were scratched off on the back. >>
My ignorance lies in vintage football. I didn't know of this. Do they still grade them as any card from that era or is there a qualifier?

I have no problem with them being worth a lot less when they're scratched, but it's just bad business for PSA to not grade them. Put "scratched" on the flip, but don't turn away the grading fees.
<< <i>But what makes it different. Is it like a crease????? >>
well -- it is akin to having the card defaced. Here is what it looks like unscratched:
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
Interesting . . . . Maybe have to give them a call and ask them . That is a really nice card though .
As far as Spicoli That is a nice card too, even though it does "GREASES" on it . I have to say , Card collectors have to be some of the most . . . .{what is the word I am looking for here } The way we can spot such slight and minor flaws or the little things that are so important in the hobby . Some of you guys are so ON POINT it's almost scary . I guess if I were grading the card for me to give that card a 9 it would still have to have the scratch off part still on it , but that's just me , not sure how PSA views it and when it's all said and done . . . as far as I am concerned , they're the boss . I wouldn't be mad about it though, that is for sure .

EVERYTHING...is that Spicoli?
<< <i>Can anyone tell me what's what's wrong with this picture? (What PSA misses sometimes is either because of ignorance or overwork.)
I'm sorry, but I have to really laugh at this one. Is Joe Orlando in the house?

Then again, no one asked my opinion.
