What should I do with these cards?

I just started to break up my collection of baseball, football, basketball and hockey. I decided to break it up into player lots and have posted a few to my ebay store. However, should I bite the bullet and submit them to PSA in hopes of a crap load of PSA 10s? Would the market be better for the following player lots if graded PSA 8/9 and 10. All of the cards were pulled from packs and placed in top loaders and have been sitting in my closet for years.

Here is a sample of my lots.

Derek Jeter

I aslo have player lots of Clemens, Ichiro, Pujols, Ryan, McGwire, Bonds, Rodriguez, Piazza, Jones, Sosa, Garciaparra, Thomas, Ramirez, Ripken, Griffey and many more that I need to post. I know that I'll never get the BV so I'm only asking a fraction of BV. What would you do? Have them graded or sell the lots?

Thanks for your help. Rich

Cherry pick the 10's (being incredibly picky and meticulous - no flaws period) and sell the rest raw.

The Jeter example is good and similar styles should do well also.

  • I personally have no interest in a base card of recent years in PSA 9 or 10, I don't think it is worth the gamble, to get them graded. Grading should be limited to vintage, and rookies. Jeter lots like this can be had for $30-$40 am sure, maybe even less.

I would probably grade the nicer cards of the more collectible players like Jeter, Clemens, Ripken, Griffey, Ryan, Pujols and possibly Ichiro. Some of the other players listed don't seem to be in demand so you would not recoup your money.

Grading is a bad idea. On another note I don't think you will ever get anywhere near that for the Jeter lot. Xtrainnings is right in his estimate. The lot is also going to be on the low end of the estimate because of the lack of rookies or singles from the last 4 years.
