NFL TRIVIA

With the draft right around the corner i thought maybe we could do a little draft day trivia this week.

So a fairly easy one i think to start it off.

Since the Raiders have the 1st pick we will start there.

With all the sports gurus saying the silver and black will be going QB,my question is when was the last time the Raiders had the #1 pick and used it on a QB? And who was it ?

ps Jason you cant play you know more then the ESPN crew lol image

Well, since I can't answer, how about this...

The Washington Redskins once drafted 2 HOFers in the same draft. Who were they and what year?

And how many other HOFers have the Washington Redskins drafted in the rest of their 70 year history??

Redskins fans are welcome to answer..lol

Correct on the first part...But the Washington Redskins have only drafted ONE OTHER HOFer in the entire 70 year history in Washington, and that was Sammy Baugh in 1937...Pretty sad actually..lol..Champ Bailey is the only active Redskins draftee with HOF possibilities...

Ok, here's a harder one...in 1983, there was a team that had 14 draft choices and not ONE of those 14 players ever appeared in more than 34 games for the team..Probably the worst draft of the decade..Which team?

The Cowboys had some pretty crappy drafts back in the early 80s. I wouldn't be surprised if it were them..

Even the Patriots themselves drafted 2 guys ahead of Brady in the same draft that never played in a single NFL game...

    T-Greg Robinson- Round 4
    DT- Jeff Marriott- Round 5

    Tells me they got LUCKY!lol

A LITTLE MORE redskins trivia the question is

Who did the Redskins choose with there #1 pick in 1946, what school was he from, and how long did he play in the NFL?

Part 2 of the question who did they choose in the 1947 draft again what school how long was he in the NFL?

Cal Rossi, UCLA..He never played a down in the NFL..In 1947, they drafted him #1 AGAIN in the 1st round, and no he still never played a down..

WHY???In 1946, Rossi was determined to be a college Junior, and therefore not eligible to be drafted..

Yep, you are correct..See I forget things too...lol..1st round in 1983 I think?

I had my research book on hand with every draft pick ever made...lol...Once I saw it was the same guy 2 years in a row, it reminded me of the story of one of the "all-time draft blunders", which was the Redskins mistakenly drafting a guy who wasn't eligible...

In 1946, he was picked 9th overall, in 1947 he was picked 3rd overall...He then decided football wasn't for him...WOW...

I guess no one knows who had the terrible draft in 1983...Well, it was the PITTSBURGH STEELERS...

Their 1st round pick was Gabe Rivera..Played 6 games in his career, never started a game...2nd round pick WR, Wayne Capers had 51 catches for 822 yds in his career, only 17 of those catrches were with the Steelers...Their best pick was 5th round WR, Paul Skansi who caught 166 passes for 1950 yds over a 9 year career...He only played one season for the Steelers and was cut during training camp his 2nd year..He then signed with the Seahawks and played mainly special teams with them for 8 years..He started 2 games in the mid-80's as an injury replacement...

I'm embarassed I didn't get this question. I knew they had inept drafts in the '80s, but this takes the cake! In '83, the Steelers (as well as a lot of other teams) passed on hometown hero Dan Marino to draft Gabe Rivera who ended up getting paralyzed in a car accident after his rookie year.

How about in training camp in 1955, the Steelers worked out Johnny U, but later cut him...image

The Steelers have also had some of the best, if not THE best drafts in NFL History....

1969- They drafted Joe Greene, Jon kolb and LC Greenwood
    1970- Terry Bradshaw, Mel Blount
1971- Jack Ham, Dwight White, Ernie Holmes, Mike Wagner
    1972- Franco Harris, Steve Furness
1974- (Possibly the greatest draft ever) Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth, Mike Webster

Art Monk will be a HOFer eventually. Champ Bailey is a lock if he plays 3 more years, and Keenan McCardell has a chance if he puts up 2 good seasons (although that seems unlikely at this point).

McCardell will need 1,000+ catches to have a shot...He wasn't really dominant and played a nice 2nd fiddle to the dominant guy Jimmy Smith for most of his catches...I'm a Jacksonville native and a Jags fan..McCardell is one of my favorites, but he's very "Art Monk" without the All-Time Receptions leader on his resume...Solid, steady but didn't score alot and other WRs on his team were more feared...

I don't think Bailey needs that long..in 8 years he has 7 Pro Bowls and 3 first Team All-Pros...I think one more Pro Bowl and/or All-Pro season will do it for him.
