PAYPAL..QUESTION ABOUT SHIPPING ADDRESS!

I just sold a lot of '59 Ted Williams on ebay and listed auction as Paypal only for payment. Just wondering about shipping...winning bidder emailed me saying they'd pay with Paypal but wants cards shipped to a friend's address. Am I covered if I ship to a different address than what is attached to the buyers Paypal ID???

    Don't do it. You'll lose the PayPal protection if you do.

    NEVER ship to an unconfirmed address, unless
    you are prepared to lose your money.

    You can set your PayPal preferences to reject
    payments from buyers without a confirmed addy.

    It is usually an innocent request -- but in this situation the buyer could claim item not received and if you can't prove that you shipped it to the Paypal confirmed address, you are screwed.
    I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    I probably wouldn't do it - like the above poster said, you'll lose protection if you don't ship to the buyers confirmed address. From paypals tips for preventing chargebacks -

    Ship to the buyer's address listed on the Transaction Details page and retain proof of delivery that can be tracked online.

    Thats a toughy, for awhile I had an unconfirmed address. I had a few cards stolen off my front porch so I had the cards delivered to my office, my credit card is linked to my house.

    I had so many people refuse so send to unconfirmed, I had to have my visa card address changed to my office so they were the same.

    It makes sense to protect you, but sometimes it is an innocent request.

    If the guy has alot of feedback, I would do it, otherwise no way

    Thanks for the advise everyone. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. If it were a cheaper item I'd probably do it but it was over $600 so I dont want to take the chance. I have shipped to unconfirmed addresses in the past but for lower dollar items.

    Claude, make sure SIGNATURE confirmation, it's cheaper to insure it and safer to get it there if you send it registered. If you don't have online signature proof you're subject to chargeback even if it says it was delivered.
