Anyone collect 1969 topps 4-in-1's

I'm curious how popular this set actually is with folks? I really like it. I just picked up a graded Rose, and have a raw one now that I'd love to trade for the Mays or Yaz and Gibson. Does anyone here collect them?

I have the set and 24 lesser condition duplicates accumulated in putting it together. Trying to decide whether to just complete it a second time. It is a neat set and moderately hard to finish, and the hardest of the Topps many 1969 issues . Topps went gang busters in 1969...Decals, Deckle Edge, Stamps, Supers, Posters, 4 in 1s, and Bowie Kuhn

  • I agree, the set is very interesting. I love most of the stuff from 69. I think the decals are very cool as well. The Supers are just a fantastic piece, although I hate the damn picture of Rose for this set and the team posters. The deckle edge don't interest me much though. I'd would have rather seen those in color.

There was a proof sheet prior to the 69 Deckle set. It has 9 players, The only big name is Yaz, and many of the players on the proof sheet are not in the 69 set. The proof sheet can be found in tact ot cut up. The proof cards can be found with red, blue or black fascimile autographs. I have a black and red one. Someone you know bid a ridiculous amount on a blue one.

Another interesting thing to track on these non standard sets is how they were distributed or if they were distributed at all. Topps used some as inserts in various different series of the regular cards in different years, but some were packaged on their own and sold nationaly or regionally, or in some cases on a selected market basis.... or sometimes not at all and only a few have triclked into the hobby a la Woody or maybe others. Some, like the 70 Cloth and 71 Rookie Artists Proofs may be 1 of 1

You can find 4 in 1 packs out there from time to time

  • Since it's my thread, let's go off topic. Bob, did you ever show any of the 71 Rookie Artist proofs?

I don't have any. Wish I did. I've never seen one in person.

love the '69 4 in 1 set. I have had the #1 registry set for a while now. Got it from Sportscards Plus a while ago. Looking for an unopneed pack. I only know of 1 collector who has 1, and just about everything else too!!
