WANTED: 1960's and early 70's cards from recently opened material - o/c cards preferred

I'm looking for Topps baseball (1960-75) cards that were recently pulled from graded, unopened material (cellos, packs, vending, rack packs, presentation sets, etc.). I don't want to pay much for them, so mint or high-end nm-mint, poorly centering cards are fine.

Use PM or e-mail me at dmarkel@peoplepc.com

I have a PSA 8OC 1965 Mays and 1968 Clemente for sale on ebay right now. Both were pulled from packs by me personally back in 1980 and put into storage until recently when I decided to have them graded. Totally beautiful cards but clearly OC.

Late 60's and early to mid 70's non-sports

    Smallstocks,

Thanks for the heads up. I'm really not looking to pay hardly anything for the cards, so I wish you well on eBay.

Dude, I really dont think you will find people who are willing to sell Mint or high end NM-MT cards from the 60s for pennies on the dollar. I have sometimes gotten a good deal or two on vintage lots off of ebay, but the cards were EX-MT to NM at best. Good luck anyways!

Bob -- If a common card from the '60s has centering beyond 80/20 it's probably worth 5-10% of Beckett at best and typically unsellable. Thanks for thoughtful words anyway.

Dude, Just for example, lets take the 1961 Topps BB set. BV for common low #s has a value of $3. If you are finding these cards in NM-MT cond. with centering issues for 5-10% BV, which is 15 -30 cents a piece please let me know. I would be willing to buy 5000 ct. boxes of them. I am not being a smart a$$ here. I hope you find a jackpot deal like that.

Bob -- I certainly will let you know and be careful what you ask for. I've met dealers in the past at shows that did have large quantities of mint cards that had centering beyond 80/20 or worse and were willing to let them go at that price. These cards are ungradeable unless you don't mind "OC" qualifiers.

Dude, I like those cards for raw sets. I would jump on a deal like that personally, but I would not buy to submit them. Yes, if you come across anyone looking to get rid of 60s commons even in EX. cond. I would gladly pay 10% BV. Thanks in advance!!

OK, I'll let you guys know. I passed on searched vending runs like this (all 80/20 or worse) in the past for 10 cents on the dollar. I didn't think anyone had any interest in those cards. I only need a handful from each year for type sets I'm building for educational purposes.

    Downtown.

Really don't think it will go much higher. I had it penciled in to close between $500-$600. But I won't be surprised if it goes higher. About 5-6 weekes ago I listed some of the league league cards individually on ebay and all closed above PSA 8 prices and a couple above 9. I was shocked to tell you the truth.

    Rip,

I'm not sure who your directing your comment at, myself, dude or downtown, but I think your way out of line. Might want to edit you comment.

    Thanks

Indeed, even 1970s stuff would be hard enough to find in that grade; I should know; I'll be looking to upgrade my 1976/1977 sets soon!

Mark, I agree with you. I was surprised to see it at 6 bills so early. Almost $1.45 a card is the average for the lot right now.

Has anyone ever thought of building a set in very high grade condition but not centered? Like try building a set that's consistently off centered the same way, like 20-80 top to bottom but with mint corners. I would imagine it's not as easy to do as one would think. The bonus is you would be into your set for roughly 20% of beckett and it would be mint, just o/c.

These would be just cards to enjoy looking at and not really for resale unless you could find another o/c buyer lover.
