Want to see some Ripken video from 1981?

One thing I am loving about the site I built is being able to come in contact with fans and collectors that are willing to share with fellow Ripken fans. The site certainly wouldn't be what it is without the generosity of some great people. A gentleman in Florida was nice enough to allow me to post some video from the 1981 season and I thought I'd share.

Have a great day!

The same gentleman who shot the video in the first link found some additional footage from 1981. The footage is nothing short of amazing IMHO. Here's the LINK

I saw a video clip of Ripken on ESPN that was probably taken in 1982 spring training. It was shortly after the Decinces trade. The video was a clip of an interview with Ripken where he said he "wanted to play every day". They looped the video so he kept repeating "every day". It was an awesome clip. Is there a link of that clip somewhere on the web? I'll check Youtube.

  • I've been waiting awhile to finally get some more video clips edited. Here's some in game footage of Cal from his AAA Rochester days:

Man, that's awesome! I hope my site brings that kind of attention and communication between fans. I have some video footage of Big Frank playing football at Auburn, but nothing spectacular...I'm working on some footage of his longest reception game. It's taking awhile to round it all up though.

    Great stuff!

Thanks so much and best wishes with your site. I'm still amazed at having this stuff on DVD. Long story short, the person who took the video found the VHS tapes and posted a pair of clips on his geocities site. I found them and asked if I could post a clip on my site. In the process he said he had more footage but would have to find it. Not too long later I received a DVD with over 20 minutes of footage that I would wager that few people have ever seen. Hopefully I'll get around to editing the rest of the DVD. I especially want to get a section of interviews posted.

Thanks a bunch. I am having some troubles with this DVD. The format it is in is making it tough to convert. Unfortunately the file is sticking right before the section where Cal gives a series of interviews. I may have to take the DVD to someone with more professional software than what I am using.

With all of the posts lately I'm sure you can see I'm excited about the stuff being done on the site. The original link was part of a series of video clips from a gentleman in Florida. Unfortunately I had trouble getting the DVD to allow me to break down the chapters. Now I have the technology to convert all of the files to a WMV format and post on the site. The following link will take you to his video page on google. He gave me permission to take the film and post it on my site for everyone to enjoy. Not sure how long it will take me to get the files posted so I will pass along the google video link. Some amazing video:

Baltimore fans will love the footage, especially considering the film has scrimmage between Rochester and Baltimore.
  • It's a nice reminder of summers in Rochester's Silver Stadium.

Easy to why the Orioles saw talent in Cal.
