How to sell - Ebay vs. auction company vs. board

Hi all,

I've been reading the boards for awhile and enjoying the topics - especially the pictures of how some of you display your collections (most of mine are still in boxes).

I need to sell some graded vintage (1967-69 topps) and am looking for the best way. Ebay seems to get low-ball prices. Robert Edwards has a good rep on the boards, but Mile High and Mastro have taken a few licks. So the question is - if you were selling PSA 7/8/9 cards from the 60's, how would you do it?

Thanks for the help.

Joe

The advantage of starting with the board is that you have nothing invested but a little time. If you have high demand items you can get a nice price on Ebay, if you do not you are unlikely to do any better with an auction house (unless it is a big ticket item).

How fast are you looking to sell.

I have put some of my cards on NAXCOM. People post their sell price and buy price and listing fees are free. But they take a bigger chunk for commissions and payments go through NAXCOM. They also calculate shipping and insurance costs, so no insane S&I charges.

e.g. I listed a PSA8 1979 Campbell rookie for $38. Someone then posted a $30 buy offer. I dropped to 32.95 and the buyer upped his price and I sold the card.
