The Target by me had nothing. I actually went to Target, Walgreens and CVS looking for 07 Topps today and found nothing. I guess I'll have to go to the card store this week and pay the premium.

Did you pull the Jeter card?

No Jeter card but I did get him on a special card. Got tons of star cards. The few pics here are only a portion.

the Ted Williams cards are all different in the one pic....the 2007 Mantle card is pretty cool

anything worth a crap in this stuff other than the jeter I didn't get?image

Some SOB got my Jeter in those 3 packs.

im trying to read the notes in the last picture on the piece of paper thats being held down by a tube of some kind of ointment..
    ·p_A·
  • goose3goose3 Posts: 11,471 ✭✭✭
that is for this little spot of dry skin on my eyelid, I can't think of the name of the condition but it's dry and it itches.

The note says Pain and Pleasure. Their phone number is probably there if you want to go get a tattoo.
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
I took a a loupe to that paper and it says:

    don't trade with joestalin

    sup with that?

    Kevin

PS..Probably get a few bucks for that Wright

i thought it said something about "Pam + Pleasure".. i was gonna you ask for Pam's phone number, and if i would need the ointment afterward..

I might also add that the retail topps have a super rare photo variation, that no one has been able to find.

    Kevin
  • Is 2007 Topps the one with red back inserts? If so, what it red on the back? The area that is typically black?

I picked up 14 packs the other day at Target, no Jeters. I haven't purchased or opened modern in a dog's age so if someone could give me the run down on this stuff like I were a 5 year-old I'd appreciate it. image

    Thanks

I've got 2 piles of cards on my desk now from this rip....commons and stars/insert things.

The stack of stars is over 1/3 as high as the stack of commons.

Wow. This year's Topps cards look incredibly good. Haven't been too impressed with the standard issues in a long while now, but the design and imagery on this year's variety looks great. Can't wait til the end of the year to pick up my factory set. (It has become a Christmas tradition for my father to get me a factory set of Topps as a Christmas gift. I figure, why not let him still get some enjoyment out of doing that?)
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

  • Does anybody plan on putiing any of the sets together? I bought a 36 pack box, and kinda either want to try to finish the set in red backs, or the mickey mantle subset, or the A rod 500 subset. Anyone up for some trades? I havent ever put a set together, but kind of fell in love with the cards and think it might be fun.

I have plenty of topps to trade. Looking for numbered parallels and heritage

    Thanks

  • Yes, I have been checking ebay for lots of unwanted cards from all the ripping for the jeters. I got my jeter with a NY yankees teams set bought last week on ebay for $4.25, before this all got unreal. Have red and white variations with one Gold card. Then saturday bought 2 boxes @ 20 each (including s/h). Can wait to rip them. The craze will be over by then so no chance of reselling the Jeters I may get. I will list tradable cards if someone else wants to try for the set. Doubles of modern just don't seem worth to keep ( have 5000+ of 85-87 in attic). One day I will take them and wallpaper them in my sons room!

succesful deals :richtree, Bosox1976, Bkritz, mknez, SOM, cardcounter2, ddfamf, cougar701, mrG, Griffins : thanks All

I have a Hobby box (36 packs I think. Maybe it's 24) full minus the one Jeter I pulled. $8 dlvd for whoever wants it. Lots of inserts and stuff, but nothing major.

Red vs. White is the player/team name on back in that color. I think Red is hobby only.

I pulled a Carlos Beltran "16 inning walk off home run" game worn jersey. Is this jersey from the game like the Jenks glove? Any value? Is that DAvid riht a gold? ANything else worth money in these packs? Cool 52 mantle
  • I have not found one box in my area....not Target, K-Mart or Wal-Mart. My local shop has packs/boxes, but I will not pay his awful prices.
  • I still need about 40 red backs from this set - for some strange reason I thought it would be a good idea to put the red back set together. PM me if you have extras for trade, thanks.

I am putting together the base set. I have no desire for my Mick or Arod cards. email me at cjb at gmail dot com if you want to trade.
  • I bought a box to get the Jeter/Mantle/Bush card. Imagine my surprise when I pulled this one: image

    image

FYI - the 1/1 is for every letter in his name. I've seen one other one on Ebay for the 1st "I".

Very cool card, but it's ridiculous that they stamp it 1/1. I mean, the guy has like 20 letters in his name. If you get an "I", are both of them 1/1's, or are they 1/2's? How do you know which one you got, the first or last? These are things we need to know.

Also, are we to believe these players gave up the jerseys they wore in the All Star game? For some it will be their only appearance, so I find it hard to believe. Or maybe they're not game worn since the card doesn't say "Game Used".

Yeah - I agree. Each "I" is a 1/1. If you notice the back of the card has an "x" mark above the letter on the front. So, there is a first "I" and a second "I". LOL

This isn't from the actual All-Star game, but is from the HR Derby and other events the day before. That's why the colors are black and yellow for all the players.
  • CDsNutsCDsNuts Posts: 10,092
Ah, didn't notice that. I guess that makes it a little better.

Like I said, I think it's a good idea and the card is cool, but I would imagine most players are unlikely to give up their game worn All Star jersey.

Looking at the results is funny because they all have a gallery picture and it looks like people are bidding $100+ on plain letter patches. Mucky, you're looking at $100 easy for this card. Nice pull.

Edit- that makes more sense ajw.
