1972 venezuelan Rose - Was this good or bad?

Ok - I paid 537.75 for it. Am I cunning or stupid.

John, These 72's are the holy grails of the Venz's. This is one of the most wanted. Is it something that you can turn over soon for bucks? I don't know. $450 is what I believe to be market value but with tax money coming some collectors way, you might do well.

I'm trying to get my brother or another local to share the ride. Its a 2-1/2 hr drive each way. I really hope too.

It's a neat card, I think you paid an appropriate price.

The 72 Venezuelan's are not very popular to collect because they are next to impossible to find without evidence that they have been glued into an album and then removed, as your Rose has. In my experience with Venezuelan's, and I've submitted more of them than anyone, generally, the highest grade PSA will assign to a card that has been through such a process and still has glue residue on the back is a 2.

The one thing that may help or hurt your purchase down the road is the importation of a boatload of these from Venezuela. I have been importing tons of Venezuelan cards in recent years, but have always passed up the opportunity to buy 1972 and 1977 cards, figuring my money would be better well spent on the cards from 1959 through 1968. I can tell you that there are plenty of 1972's and 1977's down in Venezuela, the vast majority glued into albums.

good luck , I was the underbidder and was considering going higher but backed off. I think you got it at a good price given it is the only one graded and rose is a popular registry guy. you may want to try a fixed price or high starting bid auction since the stores do not show in searches and there are some aggressive rose guys who actively bid

Congrats Wondo, I was another underbidder. I think the card is pretty sweet looking considering what some of these Venezuelan's can look like.

nice pickup. The rarities are definitely that -- but sometimes it takes some time and effort to successfully pull off a flip. Nice acquisition either way.

Wow, big congrats. I don't remember seeing that card in the auction, but if I had...I still would have been underbidder. I think ~$550 is a great price.

I might use it in a featured ebay auction - attracts a lot of attention to my store. Gotta get more inventory.
