66T Rack with Mantle on Top

image

Just imagine going to your local store and he just put out the new racks - new display - and there it is...

Mantle on Top!!!!

This is a "sell sheet" from Topps - from the Toppsvault.

It's up to 220$ - to be frank - I wouldn't want it that bad.

I just like the idea of finding the rack! image

Not to mention Koufax also on top in the same rack. Yep, that'd be a nice find.

    Very cool pC!

    I'm in rack envy!

And in this case...no rack can live up to that.

In your case, the sell sheet would be a super complementary piece.

    thanx for sharing

I didn't realize that the rub offs came in rack packs. Is that the ONLY way they came?

    very cool
  • Holy cow! Those racks are awesome. You certainly have a lot more will power than I do. I would have to rip those beauties even though I know it wouldn't be wise. You are a most fortunate collector.

    Very cool. Thanks!

The ruboffs also came in wax packs. They actually worked very well if I'm remembering right for rubbing off on t-shirts and such, paper, loose leaf books, etc. - the quality was excellent and a number of these other "ruboffs" bought in stores in other products weren't as good or colorful. Lot of fun for a kid, showing and sharing cards and doing the thing with the ruboffs. Hell - that even sounds like fun now. image

being an avid 1966 collector i feel this set never gets the love it deserves. palmer and jenkins are the top rookies so there is no carlton, seaver, ryan or jackson as the others from 1965-69 have so they are a little light in the rookie dept. still the past two months have been the slowest ever for top grade 1966 cards to be on e-bay. it is unbelieveably slow. i have had one snipe in 2007. there is a nate colbert rookie out there on ebay in psa 9 that may sell for $800.

anyway now i am tempted to go after this item. don't know i would justify it but i'll think of something.

as a blooper spotter neither koufax or ralph terry are in the first series. they are both second series cards.

pack collector--nice rack packs you have. where/when you did you get them? i currently have 74% of that set in PSA 9 or better of which 38 are 10's. although that alston looks o/c on the back i wonder what the front looks like. there are only 4 psa 9's and they have fetched $300-$700 on ebay. that roger repoz is good for $250 in psa 9 at least.

If you don't mind me asking where did you get those from??
  • I gotta think a minute. Sure there is a Mantle and a Koufax showing - but we are talking about $0.29.
Anybody know about distribution patterns to determine what else might be hidden in that rack. I mean, I could get a box of Milk Duds.

    Wow!

    I can't believe a sell sheet went for $676.66!!!

That's incredible. Companion pieces do make a collection pop - but that's a lotta dough.

    Congratulations to the winner tho.

insanity!!!!! I went in and bid 251 when I saw this thread and thought I had a shot. the other 66 sell sheet with koufax ended last night for 114 bucks.

as for my rack I picked it up within the last year , the guy has 1 more but won't sell it . I have never seen another for sale , a 1991 mastro auction that had 2 was brought to my attention but I don't know of any others .

as for opening it , I would need to be guaranteed , 2 koufax psa 9's considering what I paid for it.image
