Concepcion, Thornton, Spikes, Krausse, and Barr have a good chance of not even being holdered due to their diamond cut. Those arent just tilts so they will not measure up within size requirements. The others have shots at 7 or 8 but no higer. The Duncan looks like it is an alien baby. I wouldnt even consider sending that one.

Holdered means when you send a card in for grading and they seal it in the hard plastic. Tilt-when the card is square but the picture is actually tilted. Diamond Cut-when the card is not cut at the right measurements and is cut like a odd diamond shape.
Many of us understand that feeling, cardpool. I know I have opened up vintage packs and have had similar results...but in the same token, I have opened vintage packs and have been very pleased! Good luck on future breaks!

I got hammered on my 75 mini's they are selling on ebay for 50 bucks..AND I pulled a brett!
<< <i>Little new at the lingo. What do you mean my "holdered" and "diamond cut" and "tilts?" >>

A pic is worth a 1000 words: as you can see a TRUE diamond cut is NOT a rectange but rather rhomboid in shape - i.e. the corners are NOT at 90 degrees/right angle.
As was stated, the "tilt" card is a true rectangle and the corners ARE 90 degrees/right angle.
<< <i>Remember that the cards are greatly enlarged, which exagerates any flaws. I think Concepcion looks like a possible 8. >>
Prior to my first submission, I would agree with you 100%
Now seeing grades 1st hand, I HIGHLY encourage you to go by the scan rather than a naked eye.
My '55 Aaron alone is proof of that
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
<< <i>Wouldn't the graders use some kind of magnification? >>
Exactly, hence the reason you should NOT ignore the scan.

The flaws seen under magnification are what will knock it down to an 8. I suspect that the card looks quite sharp to the naked eye. The print dot is more of a concern to me than the slight tilt.
save your money and buy them on ebay, graded, NM-MT or MT. It will be cheaper.
I agree with cravetopps. None of these cards with the possible exception of the Leon card has a shot at a 9 so you're better off buying them already slabbed on ebay. These days you can get PSA 8s for about $6 plus shipping.

<< <i>There is no way the Concepcion will not be graded it looks like a lock 8. >>
I agree. I had a Brock with the same amount of tilt and it graded a 9.

You'll find that people here are VERY harsh on scanned cards. If you are looking to get into the grading game, I suggest you start by submitting cards. That's how we all learned what will grade what. After the first couple submissions you will be greatly improved at guessing how your cards will grade.
I agree with zef in general with regard to sending cards in to be graded, but in this case you'd be losing money if you sent these cards in and paid grading fees and shipping to and from PSA. Even a Concepcion PSA 9 only goes for about $20 on ebay and that card is an 8 at best. I'd recommend opening a few more packs and setting aside the very best cards to send in for grading. One pack is too small a sample, IMO.

I think you hit it the nail on the head.

What about those print circles like on the Barr card in the letter "A" in Giants?
Brohamer's got a nasty print thing on the left side
The Roberts card's got a ding in the lower left corner
Looks like the only decent card here is Leon.

Shame PSA doesn't break down this stuff in their grading like BGS.

I submitted it and just checked the grade on PSA's website: it's a 9!!
I checked the population chart for the card.
It has only 1 listed for grade 9.
Question: how long does it take for your card to show up on the population report?
