I'm a big fan of "LQQK!" or "WOW!" in listing titles. Draws me in like a moth to a flame.

    "Wax box-- case fresh!"
  • I don't bid on anything that doesn't say "RARE" in the title.

I'm also a big fan of:
    "Very high end 6 -- possible 7?"
"Check out our other listings. All of our cards are very high end for the grade."
    "PSA ?"
    "Must see pictures!"
"I found this in my grandfather's underwear drawer. It's been there since the '30s. I have no idea what it is worth."

"shipping will be determined at auction's end" = "if my item doesn't go for what i wanted, i'll jack up the shipping price and add on unnecessary fees."

"will refund if dissatisfied, less shipping and plus 15% restocking fee" = "sorry you didn't like your $2 item, but i'll keep the $8 i charged you to ship it, plus a quarter to file it back in my house somewhere."

"due to our high sales volume, we are unable to answer questions" = "we're powersellers, beeotch. that's just how it goes, we don't need you ho's that's why we out tha do'...laid back, with our minds on our money and our money on our minds"

The "divorcee" who claims "she" desperately needs money and is selling off "her" ex-husbands huge collection of many thousands of "old cards" - but yet "she" has time to pack the cards in random lots of 100 cards for a $5 per lot starting bid and "her" listings go on for months if not years.

This is one of my personal faves.

If you substitute the phrase "crazy old bat" for "card" it also works for my 81 year old mother-in-law.

"I am not a professional grader" = "I know this card has a crease on the back, but I don't want to accept responsibility for it."

    or

"Centered" in the title for a card that's 80/20 or worse in the scan.

then there's my personal favorite: a raw 60's common that's described as "low pop."

"Unopened wax box" and then the picture shows the wax box top fully opened to show the packs inside.

After the PSA grade in the listing, there is always the HI-END comment... aren't they all????
  • Here's a good one:

PRIVATE AUCTION: The bidder ID's in my auctions are kept private to prevent unwanted solicitations. I do NOT bid on my own items. All items are listed at the lowest price that I would accept. If anyone receives a 2nd chance offer it is because I have multiples of many items that are sold.

The above line was in an auction I was initially watching. I knew it was shady, but I placed a low bid and was immediately outbid. I placed a bid and was again outbid and opted out. As soon as the auction ended, here came the 2nd chance offer.

Nearly everything being called "rare", which could very well mean a card of which literally millions of copies of it were made.

"NRMT+++"- Are we really that adept at grading that we can differentiate between three different levels of grades between NM and NM-MT?

1986 Fleer Herb Williams, plus Bonus Michael Jordan- The Jordan is a 92-93 Topps and they just added it so it would show up in "1986 Fleer Jordan" searches.

"1953 Topps Mickey Mantle" title, with "This is the 1991 Topps Archives version" in the listing.

"1984 Topps Dan Marino RC" title when the card is the Instant Replay or Record Breaker card.

"This card is MINT for it's age"

"These cards are 20 years old!!!"- Yeah, but they're still 87 Topps.
