That's definitely the face of a drinker.

It makes me wonder what heights he could have scaled sober...

Well, I figured it would get shot down.

I realize that there are so many fakes out there. As a general rule, I would NEVER, EVER buy a Mantle auto unless certified by PSA/DNA or the like. I picked this up today from a local man in his 60's. I have known him for quite some time and know that he is very, very trustworthy. He has a ton of autographs. They were all signed in person at shows. He happened to pull this out while I was at his house today. He has been out of the hobby for probably 10 or 15 years, but still has most of his autographs. Anyway, even though I trust him, I still looked it over pretty good. It looks as fine as any I have seen. He let me have it for $100. It is going out to PSA/DNA in the next week or two so that I can have it in a slab. The next decision is - to sell or not to sell. I really, really want to keep it. Any idea what it would bring in an Authentic PSA/DNA slab?

Frank, A very similar thing like this happend to me a while back. I bought a Mickey Mantle auto. baseball from the card shop in my area. I am good friends with the owner. He bought an auto. ball collection from a friend of his and sold them in his store. He gave me the Mantle ball for $125.00 because it was signed in person at a show back in 1991, so there was no COA. He also said he would give me my money back if it came back unauthenticated. It looked like a real sig. What did I have to lose? Sent it in to PSA and it came back an 8. Wish I bought more of them when I had the chance.

    Looks real to me.

    I sold a PSA/DNA, Perez-Steele in November for $260.00.

Yours might bring a little more or a little less.

  • I sold a Mick 64' giant psa/dna for about $300 a few months back. it was signed in a ball point pen and not as nice as that sharpie. $350 sounds about right.

The signature looks pretty good. There are a lot of signed Topps Giant cards out there, yet they do sell pretty well. I'd certainly get it slabbed for verification and protection purposes.

Well, I listed the Mantle auto on Ebay just so I could get a "Quick Opinion" from PSA/DNA. The response - "Likely Genuine".

Here is the link. I listed it with a high "Buy It Now" because I plan on keeping it. If anybody wants to pay that for it, then they can have it!
