eBay taler 1772 copy of frankfurt

These replicas really do not sit well with me, particularly since they do not have COPY stamped on them. I am guessing that Germany does not have laws similar to the US for identifying replicas?

    Since, as everyone knows, only knowledgeable buyers purchase this kind of material, the edge inscription will alert them. (BTW, if you believe this please contact me about a very cheap bridge I have for sale in Brooklyn. image )

    At least Ron is up front and states it is a replica, even in the title. I got burned a few years ago buying a copy (I wondered how I won it so cheap). I agree with you, I hate seeing them pop up. Somebody could buy it, carry it in their pocket for a couple of months to wear it down and sell it to an unwary or newbie collector and make it even better looking by putting a reeded edge on the "coin".
    It is nice looking though, and if it said copy I might even be interested in it...

    Just to clarify - this is more a statement about the coin itself rather the seller. I just dont agree with the laws. Ron is an asset to the world coin arena.
