  • Since the Bears fans are happy they beat Big Blue last night, I think it will go as high as $350-375.

I don't have a clue how high this will go. More than I'd pay for it.

There was a discussion on this one a few days ago and guesses were pretty high.

I went up to $200 because I figured that I would probably be able to flip it to the right buyer or get very good trade value for it. But, it's going to be much higher than my small bid, I'm sure.

How does he get away with the "1of1" in the title?? Seems like the times I've used it, the auction gets cancelled! I don't see a problem with it at all but seems like Ebay doesn't like it.

I like Payton but this will fall under "buy the grade and not the card". Im sure it is within the guidelines for a 10 but its not that pretty to look at
  • That is one ugly Gem Mint 10. Gem Mint should have 50/50 on the front and 60/40 at worst on the back to be a GEM MINT 10.

    JMO though.

It is a shame when a card that has never had a PSA 10 gets graded a PSA 10 - and doesn't look like one. There are so many people that are looking for gem mint copy of that card, and have been looking for a long time... and that ain't it...

Couldn't agree more. To be honest, I'm not sure I would have even submitted that card for grading. Centering is all jacked up. Kind of angled.

But, boy, oh, boy, let me tell you about the unprecedented eye appeal, gloss and razor sharp corners. What a sham.

My cards that look like that are 8s.

I am digging the PSA 10 of OJ.

I mean, not $100 digging it, but nice nonetheless.

The winner is the #1 '84 Topps Football Registry set member. He goes all out on PSA 10s that he needs ... very aggressive. With MOSH being such a huge Bears fan, I'm surprised he was absent on this one. The first three '84 Payton IR PSA 10s went for more than that.

Another equally agressive Payton collector, the #1 Payton Registry set member, was also absent because he owns the 2nd PSA 10. I'm not sure if it was graded before or after this one? However, it is weird that they both popped up in the same time period ... after going so long without one. It appears the Holy Grail is still the '85 Topps. Both '84 and '85 suffer from centering problems.

wonder if mojo had both 10s and sold 1 on the side to the payton #1 reg set holder.

i noticed mojo picked up a huge lot of 84 paytons and i'm assuming his 10(s) came from that lot...just all speculation.

    Thanks,

IMO, the centering is not angled. It might appear the way from the card being tilted in the holder. But the borders on the right and bottom are definetly wider than the other two.
  • I think the only reason we didn't see 4 digits on this is is the fact that it went from a 1 of 1 to a 1 of 2 overnight...

If it had been soley a 1 of 1....it would have gone much higher!!

Same thing has happened to me with certain cards. I had 40 of the same 1974 Topps baseball card all cherry picked out of vending..I kept sending them in..4-5 at a time and kept getting back all 9's. Then one submission popped a 10...it was a 1 of 1 and sold on ebay for $400+.
The next week, I got another sub in...and it had 3 more 9's and another 10....that 10 sold for $250...
    A month later....I killed the market....got greedy and submitted 8 cards.....got back 6 10's and 2 9's...

The last card that I sold off......$49.95....as it now has a PSA 10 pop of over a dozen ..due to me and other submitters.....

Someone mentioned that the Instant Replay counterpart of the Payton card sold for more than that in PSA 10. Would it still fetch that kind of money?
