No, it's not. Besides, I like chocolate chip cookies better than cherry cookies (that's what was included in 1963 Fleer packs, you know).

And it doesn't even matter unless you get the right answer. image

It would have been a bigger coincidence if it had been his 1998 card.

Not only that, but it's on his 1989 card, which is the year he posted his magical 70 tater season in reverse (89-->98). Perhaps it was a secret prophecy?

Congratuations. *hands over a freshly baked cookie*

  • BTW, the maximum allowable sig pic size is 200 high X 400 wide. There are a few users on this board who don't seem to care, though (not you, at least you're making an effort).

I don't suppose there's any other concidences like that one, are there? Or was that "card that predicted McGwire's 70 HR season" like a one in a million chance?

Back in 89, I picked up a hand collated 1989 Upper Deck set at the local card shop. Nice set, however, there were two extra cards..
    Larry Sheets and Tom Henke.

A few days later, in the top of the 9th inning in Toronto, the Jays clinched the AL East by beating the Orioles. The final at bat being: Larry Sheets being struck out by Tom Henke.

    Weird.

How many cards did Mark McGwire have before 1998? A few hundred? Actually, per the PSA Registry, there are 1,334 Mark McGwire cards that were produced between 1985 and 1998.

Some of those card sets didn't go all the way up to 70, some went to closer than 800. But the odds of this are very high, I would have to think. A pure statististical coincidence, nothing more. And not even a surprising one at that....

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Cal Ripken Jr. finished his career with 431 home runs.

And his 1993 Leaf card is 431
