You know that warm feeling you get when ...

... you manually snipe an auction and you win it for 40% of your high bid?

Yeah. Uh-huh.

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

The best part was that I was watching the auction all week but never imagined I would be in a position to actually win it. When I saw that it was at 1/5 of what I though it would go for with 6 hours left I got excited but figured the heavy hitters would swoop in with snipes. They didn't. image

The other best part was that my high bid was significantly under what I thought it would go for. I think the fact that it's not listed in the SMR helped.

You remember that episode of CHiPs when Ponch got up at the discoteque and sang "Celebration?" Bingo. image

PS. Sorry guys, sometimes you're just so excited you gotta share it with others and you guys are the only ones I knew would understand. image

    Arthur,

I am completely with you on that. I have been looking relentlessly for a decent and affordable 71 greatest moments Munson for 2 years now. One came up recently that I was watching for 10 days. I put in a snipe and won it for 50% of my max snipe.

It made my day not only getting the card finally, but for such a great price !

  • Bri, the gambler in me still won't feel entirely happy until I actually have the card in my sweaty little hands. Even though the seller has 100% feedback and consistently deals in high-dollar sales (both as seller and buyer) with positive feedback left and the item is insured .... I still need to have it before I get too excited. That's why I haven't said what it is yet. I don't want to jinx it. image

Mike, I've found that as we walk through our day-to-day lives, any time we find ourselves quoting the indelible words of Lt. Col. Bill Kilgore ... all is well in the universe. Charlie might not surf but he apparently wins the occasional auction. image

  • Are you going to let us know what it is once you get it?
  • Mikey, absolutely. I'm quite proud of this pickup. I'll post it in my favorite thread, the MAIL CALL one. image

I actually do feel weird when I win at 40% of my snipe. I start questioning if I know what the hell I'm doing being willing to pay 2.5x what others are.

  • Congratulations on winning an auction at a great price and remembering that from CHiP's. You either have a good memory or watch a lot of nick at night.
  • Webhead, I only saw it once when I was a wee little tot knee-high to a grasshopper. But, let's face it, any time you see something like that it's burned into your memory forever, whether you like it or not.
