I dont think it will be that easy. Im hoping the Mets are the "other team". That way, it should be a better series.

Fox certainly hopes it is the Mets. They had to be greatly disappointed that the Yankees lost, they want a big market team that will pull higher ratings.
Honestly, I thought the Tigers would suffer a letdown against the A's after beating the Yankees, so what do I know.
It seems that 7 days without facing "live" pitching would not be a good thing, but AlanAllen's stat says otherwise.
I'm somewhat surprised that so many people on this thread think the Tigers will have an easy time in the World Series. I'm not saying it won't happen, but I don't see it as a no-brainer that the Tigers will win.
I think the Mets will be outmatched in both offense and pitching. Mets are a classic NL team and their pitching, other than maybe Glavine that cant stand up to an AL lineup.

Well how will the Cards fare? Remember, there were 2 teams playing in the NLCS and the Mets lost.
I think the cardinals will likely win game 1, as the tigers being off so long will definitely have some rust, but the cards I think spent every ounce of emotion they had in this series...I just don't see them being able to pull off 4 wins.
Teams clinch a series early then go out and lose, the layoff gets the blame. In reality an equally good team usually beats them. This is not the case here. Tigers should win handily, but of course bigger upsets have happened. It's so improbable it becomes probable.
With so many guys on their team that had never been in the playoffs, I truly expected Detroit to struggle like so many teams do when their roster is dominated by youth and inexperience. The complete opposite seems to be the case, as they have played very well in almost every aspect of the game IMO. They did sweep the Cards this year in a 3 game set, but 2 of them were higher scoring, late inning heroics to win. I would expect the series to be closer than either of their first 2, mainly because the first 2 series weren't very close at all. Nobody gave the Cards much of a chance in the NLCS either, and yet here they are... Hopefully it turns out to be a fun series with the Tigers coming out on top.
Jeff Weaver is the big key if St. Louis wants to compete.
Weaver hasn’t had an ERA under 6 in the AL since he first came up with the Tigers. Weaver can only perform in the National league, since the hitting is weak
The American League is superior over the National League. The Seattle Mariners are matched evenly with the Cardinals. Unless Albert gets hot, the Tigers pitching will completely shut down the Cardinals. Tigers in 5
Great pitching again tonight by Rogers! The Tigers hit the ball well. I have to say that when Jonesy comes in to pitch in the 9th inning its time to hold your breath and pray. It was like that many times this year. In the end it all worked out thankfully. On to St. Louis for game 3.
Rogers is just in some kinda otherwordly zone right now. I didn't watch the 9th - partly out of frustration, partly out of trying to get a baby to sleep - but that would've been awesome if Jones had snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Sounds like a decent possibility on any given night. Kinda like Izzy.
Win or lose for the Tigers, I am happy. If they lose, only way I would be upset is if they showed a hapless effort. Knowing Leyland, and the fact that Illitch will not make Dombrowski trade all their talent away in the offseason, the team will build on this season, hopefully for a few more years to come. A change here and there where needed is good, but I have this gut feeling Monroe is going to be a 40 homer/120 RBI man next year. Sign him up for the long term!
I still say the Tigers will win it, but it is not going to be easy, said 6 games previously, it may go 7. And if the Tigers win it, I bet all that is going to be mentioned about it is Kenny Rogers and his "cheating," and that is the "ONLY" conceivable reason they won!

Yeah, Detroit doesn't want to shame the AL by losing the first World Series game in 2 years.
