My bad experience with seller blp_grlg

I realize this seller has been discussed on these boards recently but I thought I'd share my experience of actually buying some of her packs. I won several packs recently including some 1974-75 OPC WHA. I could not resist the urge so I opened 1 of the packs. Well to my suprise 3 of the cards had rubber band marks. These were on cards #2,61, and 66 (The last card in the set) I've attached some pics of card #66. As you can see on the backside just where the blue and brown meet. well I guess I was burned. Did anyone else open packs from this seller??

This thief should be locked up! I've been one of the first to try and discourage anyone from buying anything "unopened" from this guy. No wonder "she" doesn't accept Paypal payments over $100 and hosts private auctions. I'm very sorry to hear you got screwed by this thief. I'd recommend obtaining her contact info & demand a refund or threaten criminal charges. I hope you can at least get your money back. Good luck!

It's amazing that no one else left this thief negative feedback yet. Just wait until they open these resealed packs (if they ever do) and find out what you have. That's the problem with ebay and these scammers--these dishonest sellers count on either inexperienced buyers of unopened material or that the buyer will keep the packs "sealed" long after they've split town.

It is not ok to steal from people who are
    not cautious.

But, I wish people would be more cautious.

This seller has EBAY snowed right now. All
of the right answers were given and T&S
    bought it.

The cops in the seller's town need to be
    notified.

This seller probably still has a house full
of wrappers and empty boxes. The cops
would love to find those when they stop
    by for a chat.

There is a 1975 TOPPS MINI box about to bite
    somebody listed, now.

BTW, those ARE rubber band marks.

  • I'd like to see the lots of cards that sold....like the football that had all the Emmitt rookies in it....there were literally thousands of dollars worth of cards and the lot went for ONLY $300+

I just wonder what was really in it...

As a buyer of many vintage unopened packs, you must be leary, and in fact flat out refuse, to buy from anyone who utilizes "private auctions". On eBay we have a vintage unopened collectors group and we share info on sellers who we suspect and/or know are resealing. The seller you referenced--is a known resealer and has a number of eBay names. We have tried to get him removed, but eBay has refused stating that they need "proof". When an auction does show up where we are certain it is resealed items we normally contact each of the bidders and advise them to be weary. When the seller posts a private auction it is designed to not allow us to contact the bidders. Word to the wise--stay away from private auctions.

I'm wondering, is it against ebay policy to warn potential bidders by running your own ebay auctions explaining that most private auctions are frauds, searched packs, etc. I know you can't point fingers to a particular seller or give a blanket statement that they are bad auctions but maybe explain that you are not running a private auction because you think it will hurt your sales as a lot of people may figure yous are bad packs and you don't want to be associated in that way. This way I think you should be covered and not be going against any ebay policies.

  • First, thank you to Grote and the others who warned about this seller. I had a couple snipes set before I read the thread posted here last week.

Second, sorry 54topps. No one deserves to be sold searched packs. You were robbed plain and simple no matter what ebay thinks of this seller. I would be looking for restitution.

Third, Flatfoot. Maybe Ebay needs to read this thread. Photographic evidence of handled cards in unopened packs should help your cause.

Reading these boards has saved me money on more than one occaision. BTW one of my snipes was set on the 74-75 opc wha packs. The other was on the 73-74 topps packs.

  • Because of this board....I saved myself 320+ dollars. I had won 2 auctions from this seller and then read the board. I basically emailed this seller and said. I have reliable info that they were a pack resealer and was not going to pay for my auctions.....I expected a angry responseand a denial!! .....BUT that is not what I got.....as fast as they could type into the computer they offered me the EBAY option that both parties have "mutally agreed not to complete the transaction"....I of course did this option to aviod possible negative feedback.....But in my opinion this is almost a admission of guilt!! Thanks again PSA meesage boards!!!

Contact the high bidder and all under bidders and tell them your experience. That should make a few people retract their bids.

Unfortunately, this thief is making his auctions private to prevent other bidders from warning anyone.

Here are some of the problems with cases similar to this one.

When the crook is confronted by the venue, the crook says,

"This complaint was made against me as a result of several
of my competitors trying to shut down my business."

"I have perfect FB, and all of my customers have been satisfied
    with their purchases."

The crook then faxes fake purchase invoices to the venue
along with personalized photos showing the crook in the
possession of the items. The crook also sends copies of
his identification, credit card bills, utility bills and other
documents "proving" the crook's identity. Once the morons
have the "proof" in hand, the complaint is closed.

The one thing we have no way of knowing at this point is
whether or not the venue has placed "listing limits" on the
crook's account. You can sometimes determine this by
looking for new listings; if none exist, the account may be
under limits. But, the venue uses both "number of item
limits," and "dollar amount limits," so, there is no way to
know for sure if any limits at all are on the account.

Until the FTC explains to the venue that their knowledge
of these crimes makes them culpable, there is really not
a whole heck of a lot that can be done.

if you collect unopened packs, join the eBay vintage wax packs group.
  • 54Topps, that is atrocious. No one should ever have to discover something like that.

This is why I will never purchase unopened wax on eBay. BBCE is as reliable as it gets and you're hard-pressed to beat their prices.

Those look like rubber band marks to me too.

If you haven't left feedback yet, I strongly suggest you drop a neg and say they reseal packs image
