Gold doubloons

Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone could tell me what to look for in a Spanish doubloon. I just found one on e-Bay but it's only supposed to be 7/6 of an inch across. Does anyone know what a bigger one would be called, what it would be called and how much it would probably cost?

You're looking for gold Spanish Escudos. Price is based on mintmark / year / condition, but seems to be around $700-$1000 for 8 Escudos and $400-$600 for 4 Escudos.

the 8 escudos in the current market should be going for over 800 in a decent VF or better. Better mints can bring premiums much much higher.

A "doubloon" however, is a 2 escudos coin - from the root double.

two kopeki is correct, you are most likely looking at a 1 escudo, and the seller is using the term incorrectly, which is pretty common.

Watch for removed mounts and polishing. Those are problems that you'll find quite a bit with these coins, and it will drop the value.
