"King of Seated Coins"

Is there one silver seated coin that could be considered the King of Seated? A coin that is desired and appreciated by all collectors of seated coinage, one that is at the same time rare, but obtainbable by a collector not descended from a monarchy nor a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, one that a coin collector who is not an avid seated collector will recognize as important without doing a lot of research, and one with an interesting story or historical association to it? It should not be an obscure variety or esoteric issue.

What is the King of Seated Coinage? Does the LSCC recognize one coin as The King? I am not an avid seated collector, but I will make a nomination after I read some of the others.

Two that would be high on the list are the 74CC Dime and the 73CC Trade Dollar. I'll leave out the 73CC No Arrows dime since it's NOT obtainable by the average collector.

I think an 1876 CC twenty center might be a good candidate.

Probably does not qualify as Royalty, but I'm haveing a heck of a time finding an unc 1878-S seated half for a good customer....

I still vote for the 1873-S seated dollar, regardless of whether it is obtainable. Otherwise, even though they are almost assuredly all backdated fantasy pieces, and the story of (18) "originals" is an apocryphal myth, I would vote for the J-58 rather than the J-60. TDN, are you listening? We need you to post one more of your magnificent coins !!

My vote is for the Gobrecht:

First coin of the design
Very popular
Even a poor schmo like me could scrimp and save and buy one
Large coin
Recognized as important by coin collectors who do not follow the seated series

Robert, based upon the way your question was worded, I don't think there is just one "correct" answer.

The question was designed for discussion, not the "correct answer".

I figured it would be infinitely more interesting than some of the other crap here lately.

BTW, I am writing an article on the King of Southern Gold Coins for the SGS newsletter, and I thought I might learn something relevant from my seated coin brethren.
