Ebay is raising the listing fee again and 2% higher sellers fee in stores

These Store Inventory format insertion fees take effect Aug. 22, 2006:
Starting Price New Insertion Fee Current Fee
$0.01 -- 24.99 5¢ 2¢
$25.00 and higher 10¢ 2¢

Some Store Inventory format final value fees also will also increase, effective Aug. 22, 2006:
Selling Price New Final Value Fee Current Fee
$0.01 -- 25.00 10% 8%
$25.01 -- 100.00 7% 5%
$100.01 -- 1,000.00 5% (no change) 5%
$1,000.01 and higher 3% (no change) 3%

    Well, I did close my store today. It was open less than 30 days. As a matter of fact, the gold I had listed still had 21 days left.
    I have found that over time, the only way to keep thieves out of my pockets is to not wear pants.
    I hope ebay knows where to use their lip service now

    I have items in the store just for the heck of it in case someone buys it but if I am going to pay ebay 10% to sell it and then pay pal on top of it there is no point. They are making all the money.

    Will some please create a better ebay for coins.

    ebay stock is off 20%+, they came out with earnings today and were about to get clocked. They are warning growth is slowing [gee wonder why?] and to offset that they announced a hike in fees and a share buyback.

    Finger in the dike. The stock is at 33x earnings and has no room for disappointment and still have a variety of accounting and operational issues they will be unable to resolve. Look for the stock to drift south. When Google starts their auction service ebay will crater with all the bad will they have sown.

    I am just finishing up a round of eBay auctions (mostly art supplies, not coins). All of the auctions started at 99 cents and had no reserves. I couldn't be happier with the results. The buying public wants true auctions, not "store" listings. eBay seems to be getting the message on this.
    All glory is fleeting.

    A large segment of the public appreciates store listings. When I need a roll of paper tape for registered mail packages or a DVD of Elmo for my daughter or some other standard-priced "commodity" I like the buy it now and receive it sooner option that a store purchase will give me.

    What is the point of having an Ebay store? Is it just to have a listed inventory? If you don't have a listed inventory and just have straight auctions all the time is there any reason to have a store.

    What is the point of having an Ebay store?
    There are a lot of good reasons to have an ebay store--one is that you dont have to play the auction game. Another is you set your price and that is it-if someone searches for something and they see it-bing-game over, just click the buy-it-now and you own it. The person searching for something does not have to wait until an auction is over to see if he won it..Not everyone likes auctions. Also the store format gives you more time. I like searching eBay stores for coins-you would be surprised at some of the bargains you can find. Also usually one look at a persons store will tell me if i want to purchase anything from them. You can also use the make offer button in the store this is helpful too.image

    I just drive two miles and pick these types of items up at Staples.
