Grades just popped for HOFer single-signed baseballs...

Hey guys just thought I would share my results for whomever might be interested in them. I sent in 8 single signed baseballs for grading and authenticating. Overall I was a little dissapointed in the results, I thought for sure that I would have at least a few mint 9's total but they seem fair to me. If anyone is interested in any of these signed baseballs, they are all for sale and I can provide as much information as needed on each of them as soon as I get them back from PSA/DNA.

Hi, Can you post a picture of what one of the Mantle balls look like? I've never seen one after PSA graded one. Where do they put the grade? Thanks, Neil
  • Hey Neil, I will sure post the pics as soon as I get the balls back from PSA/DNA. The way they grade a ball is by placing a grade on the signature and then a grade on the condition of the ball itself. Then you get an overall grade. When they mount them they encapsulate them in a clear ball qube that has special stickers sealing the qube and the stickers can't be be peeled off, they have to be broaken or cut in order to get the ball out. This is to ensure that someone doesn't peel off the stickers and place a fake singed ball in the cube and then re-seal it and try to sell it. PSA/DNA also provides a page document that describes the ball and the grades that it got for signature, ball condition, and overall grade. The document also has a picture of the actual item that is graded and gives a certification number for the ball and also has signatures from about a bunch of people at PSA. On the ball itself there is a invisible DNA marking that can only be seen when under a special light at PSA/DNA. Then on the ball qube itself there is a sticker on the back of the qube that gives the cert # for the ball and the overall ball grade (its just like the sticker on a PSA graded card). Hope that clears all that up. I will provide scans as soon as I get them back.

    Thanks,

    Matt
