A couple interesting slabs

My newest very strange foreign coin sample slab

FUN Show, 2006, Somali Dollar. NGC Sample (A very strange sample slab)

And I can't resist showing this error slab off, forgive me its not foreign. This is yet another example in the "building trust in a third party certification service". Holder says 2004, the coin, a 2001?

Beware of the guitar coin, cosmic liked it so much that he ended up trading his coins for guitars at the end. image

Now you have to work on the whole set of them!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Oh nooooooooooo, don't tell me there's more? I have been looking for this one forever, if I thought there were other sample slab varieties, I would just find a bridge and fling myself off...........

The NGC isn't a true Sample slab as it was not given away by the grading service to advertise their product. This is actually a Presentation/Advertising slab (fits in both catagories) It is a Presentation slab because in order to receive one you had to be one of the first 250 people to register each day. And of course an Advertising slab because it's purpose was to advertise the show itself and not the grading service that produced it.

Congratulations though that is a very tough slab to acquire. I don't have one yet. I could also use a good picture of it both front and back if you don't mind.

Probably doesn't play well? It has to be the ugliest excuse for a coin I have ever seen, and therein, its beauty, so bad its great.

The set I am familiar with having seen them on a bourse floor, my flinging myself off a bridge would be strictly motivated by discovering that the F.U.N Show powers that be issued more than one variety in the advertising slab.

Securing this example became an almost obsessive mission, well actually it did become an obsession. For such a rather large number of these things given away, they are elusive at best.

Of course now that I finally do have one, the market will probably be flooded with them shortly.
