My Javanese coin has disappeared from Krause!

I'm talking about a half stuiver issued in the name of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte, King of Holland, for use on Java. Coin is copper, 25mm diameter, Obverse: LN monogram between "½" and "St", Reverse: a small star, "JAVA", the date 1810 and mintmark "Z".

It was listed in earlier editions as KM# 228, Craig#45, but I can't find it in my nice new 4th edition 19th century anywhere. The Batavian Republic ones are there, the VOC ones are there, Native State ones are there, but these aren't.

Have they been declared officially unofficial and shuffled off to the "Unusual" catalogue, are they hiding in the catalogue someplace where you'd never think to look, or did they just vanish into hyperspace? I also notice I've got a couple of Netherlands East Indies ¼ stuivers from 1826 (KM#287) that have been vetoed as well. Has everything for Netherlands East Indies between 1804 and 1854 gone AWOL?

Well. Don't know the answer, but I can feel your pain. Krause is full of so many holes, omissions, errors, etc.

True, but it still is the most comprehensive book out there for World Coins.

Absolutely... I just wish there was a competitor to increase the quality. And when is the 16th Century coming out?? I've been hearing that it's "in the works" from some insiders for a few years. Sorry for threadjacking, Sapyx!image

Threadjack away, dude. image I just wish there was online access to Krause - then I could at least print out the missing bits, corrections etc...

I send information about errors or holes I find to michaelt@krause.com, and usually see the results in the next edition that wasn't already in final preparation when I sent the notification.
