  • isnt there some ebay rule about reasonable shipping?
  • Not cool. I predict somebody who's not paying attention will pull the trigger before the weekend's over.

    This is against eBay's rules.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

    Turn him in here

He doesn't say no local pickup, if anybody is close it might be fun to see how that turns out.

  • I'm not trying to act naive, but isn't it possible that the shipping amt. is a typo??

  • Nope. I'm a doofus--I just saw "please read shipping before you bid on this item."

    no. from the auction:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Seller's payment instructions
Shipping is 490.00$, I want make sure I get my money worth this card?

    This is blatant fee circumvention.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Look at the bottom. He says under Sellers Payment Instructions , "Shipping is 490.00$, I want make sure I get my money worth this card?"

I emailed him and told him what I thought about it. Let's see if he responds.

A Pujols Finest RC or something like that. $10 BIN with a $490 shipping charge.

  • I wonder how many complaints on an auction like that it takes to have Ebay pull it.

I complained, and on one hand, I was impressed by the prompt removal of the auction. But on the other, it kinda just heightens my cynicism toward eBay. From time to time, I'll file complaints on keyword spamming or obvious fakes/reprints, yet eBay is a little sluggish when it comes to taking action on such auctions.

Keyword spamming and such doesnt bite into their fees. This does. Of course they'll pull the plug on something that's going to screw them.
