Philip Grierson, the author of Medieval European Coinage passed away on 15 January, he was 95.

    The Mrs was having a tearful moment during a sad movie last night but, inadvertently, I cheered her up.

    I said ' You cry during sad movies and talk during good ones".

    Bought a smile back to her face anyway. image

    Wow, one of the "great names" of Medieval & Byzantine coins. Frankly I hadn't heard of him for a long time and given the age I now undertand why. Too bad.
