Using MS70 on Nordic Gold

Don't do it.

Although MS70 is merely a soap, it will destroy the nordic gold alloy almost instantaneously, leaving an ugly brownish hue to the metal, and if let sit on for more than a few seconds, the whole coin will turn almost brown, and then start to turn some pretty interesting hues of blue as well. I was trying to get off some fingerprints, and after using MS70, even the fingerprints were still visible afterwards.

So never use this product on nordic gold. What a strange alloy!

Thanks for sharing, I never touch my coins anyway. How can a soap or cleansing liquid destroy gold anyway, such a resistant material? Do you mean that the coin lost its collectable value and is now worth only bullion? If such a thing happened, I'm very sorry.

Well, the coins sure did lose their collector value, but they're not gold. Nordic Gold is an alloy of copper, also used on Euro coins (see here). The coins I experimented on were Polish 2 zloty commemorative coins that had some ugly stains on them which I wanted to remove if possible. At the same time, I treated a few others having only some fingerprints on them, in order to clean them up. I've used MS70 successfully on dirty but uncirculated silver and copper/nickel compounds, and thought it would work on nordic gold. My attempt failed, however.
