Has anyone ever thought or actually known if someone bidding on Ebay, might have been or is someone famous?

I know Keith Olbermann buys a lot of sports cards. I remember someone posted his name one time and I looked him up and he had recieved 800+ positives and had only left 3 positives for others. What a guy!

That doesn't surprise me. I admit that I don't know Olberman personally but he comes across as a pompous jerk sometimes on television. For some reason, he has always seemed to convey a tone of arrogance to me. I wasn't terribly disappointed when he left ESPN for just that reason.image

I had sold a card a few years back on EBAY to Keith Olbermann. He paid with a check and at the time I wondered if it was actually THE Keith Olbermann, but I assumed it was with a Park Avenue address in NYC.

.....I do not recall about feedback.....

....It was only a $20 card.....

Pretty sure Dmitri Young bought a high dollar card on Naxcom, leading me to believe that he is active on ebay as well.

I know Royals prospect Matt Campbell was buying a lot of his rookie cards - not sure if he still is. Userid was soupphenom or something - imagine that. The only way I was able to put 2 and 2 together is that one of my buddies whose last name is Campbell went by "soup".

Dmitri Young won a PSA 10 Kirby Pucket 84 Fleer Update from me a few years back.
  • I sold a high-end Nomar card to Jim McMahon a while ago.
  • There is a buyer of very high dollar vintage with the name of aleftturner. I wonder if he is a NASCAR driver going by his ebay handle. Anyone know?

Think I sold one of his Topps Chrome autos to his mother or another female relative a few months ago. It was the same last name and when I looked at her purchases she had bought others.

  • I was this guy's high school baseball coach. That's probably why he plays football.

His sister outbids me for many of his cards. He now plays for Nashville in that juggernaut Arena League. Great kid.

So I get home tonight and check my eBay sales for the day.

One of the items is a Sacramento Surge World Leage of American Football (WLAF) button new in the package.

    No biggie...

I check my Paypal payments and the person who bought it is one Mr. William Goldberg.

    Hmmm...

I then notice the eBay name is related to vintage hotrods.

    Could it be...?

Google "bill goldberg" and the ship to city "bonsall".

Pretty sure on this one... ladies and gentlemen, I give you...

    image

For those of you unfamiliar, before becoming WCW's answer to Steve Austin, Bill was an accomplished football player for the Georgia Bulldogs. He went on to play for the Sacramento Surge, helping them become the only American team to capture the World Bowl Championship. He played a couple years for the Atlanta Falcons before being signed to the Carolina Panthers expansion team in 1995... and becoming the first player to be cut in franchise history.

He ended up doing quite well for himself after football finding huge fame in professional wrestling and parlaying that into a decent movie/television career.

I think I am going to ask him if he would mind signing one of these buttons for me.

Steinbrenner's son (grandson?) was real big buying sport AND non-sport unopened graded packs from the 50s and 60s. He also bought a LOT of toys from the 60s. When he was bidding you were real happy if you were the seller ... and not too happy if you were one of the other buyers. IF HE WANTED IT HE WON IT. Saw quite a few auctions that sold for MUCH MORE than FMV when he was involved.

Is Keith Olberman still buying the 2006 Alex Gordon cards? I bought one a couple weeks ago for a fraction of what he was reportedly paying a couple years ago.

  • Sold a player his card years back. It was a 1/3 buyback auto. Only $30 or so and glad he ended up with it. Dont recall the name

Sodl another card to a players Mom. Dont recall the name.

Phil Hughes collects his cards and I assume he ebays.

Same with Pat Neshek. Interesting note about Neshek and his 2009 Topps auto.... From his site-

MY FIRST CERTIFIED AUTOGRAPH IS OUT THERE

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up that my first autograph issue in Topps is out. I noticed this under eBay just a minute ago. I signed 1000 cards for Topps. On 100 of the cards I wrote different inscriptions. I believe I did 10 different inscriptions at 10 cards a piece...so the card on eBay with my debut is really a 1 of 10. I signed this one with my debut #...oh yes # 72. Pretty pumped to see my 1st cert autograph card. I'm hoping my value is down to nothing so I can pick up this card, we'll seeimage

"For the first 5 auto I wrote, 1st certified autograph ever with the date and the next one I wrote 2nd cert auto ever with the date. After I did that I wrote 10 that contained www.patneshek.com. You guys get the point. Here's all the inscriptions I wrote. 10 that said www.neshek.com, 10 that said sidearmer, 10 that had 7/7/06 MLB Debut and #72, 10 that had 2007 MLB ALL STAR FINAL VOTE, 10 that said Go Twins, 10 that said STRK 3 and finished up the day signing my last cert entitled "my last cert auto!" Hopefully you guys will get a kick out of finding these and seeing them pop up next year in different Topps products"
