1940's Smilin Jack card value

What does a vintage 1940's Smilin Jack card set book for?. Are they worth more in strips? Any help would be appreciated. Dennis

The complete set books at about a buck a card - I've seen sets on ebay with low opening bids and nobody hits them. Everytime one comes up I consider it but I always pass. To me, it's just not a very attractive set. Things could change though - it's still a 65 year old set of cards and vintage collectors are just beginning to wake up to old non-sports.

  • Thank you Mark. Are they worth more in uncut strips?

Actually never seen them offered as singles.

Edited to add: No, wait a minute. That's not true. I think I remember a group of them offered as singles, but they were cut badly, worn on the edges and didn't attract much attention.

  • I actually have a complete set in strips that I was wondering what the value was. I'm more of a sportscard collector than non-sport.
