cigarette cards with cats on them, info??

I saw a few of these in a local antique mall today. They were in a case and I didn't have time to ask to see them, but they looked standard cigarette card size, and featured b&w pictures of cats and kittens doing cute things, as cats and kittens usally do. I have no idea who made them, anyone got a clue?

Very good chance that it is a British card set - I don't know of any T cards featuring cats.

mm - I had to go back down to the antique mall and get them. You are right, they are British. They say "De Reszke The Aristocrat of cigarettes" on the back, along with "London, England". Appears they are a series of 27. They're like little photographs (glossy, photo-type paper) with captions. I think they're kind of neat, being a "cat person" and all.

bowdown - I believe those cards are from the 3 series of DeRezke/Millhoff Real Photograph cards from 1931-1933.

I could only trace two of them to the 3rd series. Do the others say 1st or 2nd series on the reverse?

Its interesting, but the movie cards from the same company are listed as being from the Netherlands. However, these clearly say England.

cubfan - Actually, 2 of them just say "A series of 27", which I'll assume are the first series, one says "2nd series of 27" and one says "4th series of 27". So that's at least 104 more cards I'll have to find...........now that I started.

Bowdown - The descriptions I found of the sets say that they are whimsical pictures of dogs, cats, and horses. So if you are just interested in the cats, there are probably less than the 104 you needed. Im sure they will pop up sooner or later.

Looks like a nice set and opening bid (from England) is less than $2.

Wow, I tried to bid on a set of these and was met with an ebay message saying I was not allowed to bid on them because the seller only sells to U.K. Oh well, I'm sure there are other sellers who don't mind taking my money.
