Advice for those that purchase coin books on ebay...

I was about to get in a bidding war with someone for this book on ebay. Before I did so, I went to Amazon and entered the title in the search line. It yielded multiple copies for under the next bid ($8.51). In fact, I purchased a new copy for $5.69. For people who buy coin books on ebay, it is something to consider before entering your bid.

    That's sound advice for people who buy anything on eBay. Many items can be had cheaper elsewhere.

    So true. I was able to get a Library Edition of the VAM encyclopedia on Amazon for only $55.00....

    Even Better, join the ANA and you can borrow coin books and VCR tapes for just the price of shipping ANA Library . For example I just finished reading Coin Preservation by Charles Frank and I jsut watched a Cherrypickers video, a Coin Photography Video, a Grading Video and a video on how to detect AT coins. I also have a video called something like How They Grade Coins at PCGS.

    I am the king of cheap when it comes to buying books. I almost never buy a book on ebay because there are so many other places to look for used books.

    By the way, I bought all of the Bowers' Companion books for about $5 each. My cheapest numismatic book purchase? It was David Hall's Mercinary Guide to Rare Coin Investing. I paid 19 cents!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Half.com (eBay)

    And of course Amazon
