At a show recently, there was a guy selling his collection of Napoleonic Medals. He wanted some pretty hefty money for most of them, and I didn't know squat about what they were worth, so I didn't buy any. But, man were some of them beautiful! Amazing artistry, craftsmanship and detail, particularly in light of the fact that most were produced around 200 years ago with much cruder technology than we have today.

So I decided I wanted one, (or maybe several image ). I picked this one up for $60. It's plain edge, so I think it's not a restrike, but I don't know for sure.

I can see why they would lure you into the Darkness.

Now that you're here, we'll have to corrupt you some more. Buahahaha.

BTW, doesn't that kind of look like one of those high falutin' auction house images? image

Bet Vern would be interested in checking out those Napoleons for some possible acquisitions.

Much nicer than the example I've currently got. But the link gives you a description of the medal in some detail.
    Very pretty!

    And BTW,

    Yeah, you suck! imageimage

Edited to pick the right medal... image

    D'oh!

Russ cherrypicks a Darkside medal that's nicer than Vern's example?

Geez, what is the world comin' to?!

Next thing you know, Vern is gonna cherrypick a PR69 DCAM Accented Hair Kennedy half out of a '64 proof set. image

    Russ:

Nice addition... if you like that consider some of the 5 Franc coins from the 1807-1813 time frame.

Nice Medal - I've got about 40 Napoleonic Medals - I buy because they're beautiful and really quite inexpensive for what you get - something like those Condor tokens image
