Had to do it, space is a problem

Well,I finally did it. I had no choice. 7,500 mangled cards from my earliest collecting days are now a smale pile of ash. Extra space in my house is at a premium as we plan for an addition. I have so many cards as it is, I had to take the hit. I burned them all in my backyard... pile by pile until they were gone. 1976-1983 Topps RIP I know I know, should have gave them away to someone who would enjoy them like I have. Nope, they were meant to be sacrificed by me as I collect the Mint copies of them now. image

    I hope you at least cooked a hot dog over the cinders.
    Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!

    You should have put them on eBay with a starting bid of $5,000. It would have generated some laughter on these boards, but it would not be out of the ordinary at all.

    I've often wondered if you could put boxes of cards like this out at a yard sale, label them as "OLD" cards, market them well and have some lady pay decent money for them for her kids??

    Here is something I learned from my father-in-law. He had an old working Spa he wanted to get rid of. He put it out his in front yard with a sign that said FREE. He had no takers for a few days. He changed the signed to $25 and someone came up later that day and bought it. The theory is that if it is free, people thing there is something wrong with it. If you put a value on it, people thing they are getting a deal.

    Maybe try putting cards out for $5 or something and see if anyone takes.

    Soft, maybe you ought to separate the ashes into separate lots and sell them on ebay.
    "Ashes of stars and rookie cards included!!!! Your lot may include the ashes of a 1952 Topps Mantle card!!! Since these ashes have not been graded, I am selling them as ashes of reprints!!!"
