Need help with preserving collection

Could anyone offer suggestions how I could keep moisture out from my safe. Im cuurently using silica gel bags.

    How large are the bags? I have a good 10-12 ounce (volume) of the descicant beads. In TX and MS, they didn't need to be recharged for months at a time. In Belgium, it is every few weeks.

    That's about the best they make. You might also want to use "Metal Safe" sold by Amos Hobby for protection from other elements.

    You could also try putting the coins into large airtight containers w/small silica packs before putting them into the safe. I remember someone recommended getting unused empty metal gallon paintcans at a hardware store. Those would work good and hold lots of coins.

    Thanks for the info, right now Im using 450 gram bag. It reads that it protects up to 33 cubic feet. It has a color indicator to exchange for a new bag. I reactivate the bag by putting it in the oven for several hours. Funny my wife wants me to put the safe in the garage, I told her she was crazy and well Ive been on the couch for a couple days, haha! It was worth it!

    I was told by another collector to put my collection into military ammunition boxes, but Im not sure about that.

    Unless your safe is air tight silica gel will draw moisture in from the outside and have no overall effect. Also if your safe is fire proof it is
    probably the type that has moisture impregnated in the walls.

    I dont think it has the fire proofing. I keep the safe in a dry cool area of the house, but living in south florida means one thing, moisture. So that is my concern.
