1955 Topps Rails and Sails

This is just a nice set of cards - no sense in comparing old sets with current sets. It's just a different world. Steve pointed out below that he is not concerned, and ya know what? Neither am I. Today's kids have more learning tools than we old farts ever did - let 'em space with cards.

n the 70's and 80's, just about every movie that came out had a card set, and, today, most of the new NS sets center around stars, action characters and porno queens. Is anyone else concerned with this massive shift in tone of material made available for our "impressionable" youth?

nah Im not concerned, however those are some nice cards Mark!
    Good for you.

  • How about Lincoln Logs?......I used to build a log cabin, stock it with my toy soldiers and have 'em surrounded by toy Indians.........or should I say toy Native Americans.....there was no such thing as PC back then.......personal computers or political correctness!

One of the best things about having a kid is getting to play with all of the toys you wanted but never got- or never got in the quantity you wanted. You should see the size of the Lincoln Log towns in my house, with Tinker Toy windmills and castles of Lego's.
Then get the Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots to knock them all down.

Best part of being an adult? Savoring it all with a beer in your hand!

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Griffins, you're right on the mark. I'm sure glad I don't have all girls. I have an excuse to "show" my son how to play with so many great toys and an excuse to go to all those fantastic G and PG movies. image

    Hi Mark
I picked up this pack from B&E for a good price based on what Murphy wants for a pack.

If GAI is at the National in Anaheim, maybe I'll bring it and we'll open it in front of them!

Nice pack Mike - do you know what's in there? These cards have a weird issue pattern: 1 thru 80 are low numbered Rails cards; 81 through 130 are high numbered rails cards; 131 to 160 are low number sails and 161 to 200 are high number sails.

Anaheim sounds great - you do the ripping and I'll do the clicking.

You can still get Lincoln Logs with wood- I refused plastic tinker toys or Lincoln Logs for my son. He'll have enough plastic in his life, draw the line somewhere!

Nice set Mark, lets see some of those isolation booth cards.

No, those are the Isolation Booth or Gee Whiz Quiz cards. They were inspired by the old $64,000 Question quiz show from the fifties.

Ya know what's interesting - over 40 yrs later and you still hear someone say: "now that's the 64 thousand dollar question..."
