    British sixpence, 1787.

Worth anything? Yeah- a little. (I don't have my 18th century Krause book handy but somebody will chime in).

    Nice piece.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

BTW, I have a 1787 sixpence just like that- almost identical in grade- except mine was holed and somebody gold-plated it to try and pass it as a half-guinea, I guess. I wear it on my Holey Gold Hat, right next to a genuine gold half-guinea piece of the same era.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

  • LordM, how do you know it's a sixpence?

  • And to pick up a thought from an earlier thread, a while back: yes, it seems he really did look like that!
