What ya think of this Double Florin (BIG IMAGES)

I think it looks pretty original and untampered with, what are your thoughts? I think it will go to a TPG....

I agree... post the grade when it comes back. It looks great...perhaps a 65

I have to admit I have not gotten this MS-60-70 thing down.

I'm guessing 62/63 on this one. As is typical, there are lots of small marks on the obverse. The reverse is cleaner.

I'd buy it if you were selling it - it's a beaut!

Beautiful pick up! Looks like some cool die cracks on the reverse too. image

Nice lustre - - even with the 'tickies' I should think the lustre will bring it to a 63. But, of course, you can't grade an image! image
BTW, darn nice photography there Mr. Hound. image

I'd go with 62 to 63 also. Nice piece!

  • Lovely peice. I would grade it solid MS62 with a push to MS63. Depends on how much coffee your grader had in the morning image

Nice practically full strike, beautiful full luster (as far as I can tell from the picture), some bag marks and abrasions on the obverse and a negligible amount on the reverse, slight but pleasant toning. I can easily see a 63, and maybe 64. 65 on a lucky day, depending on the service.

A very nice 2 Florin!! I tend to agree with those of a MS62-63 persuasion, though.

  • Wow that is pretty nice.
I didn't know they made them that good.
All I ever get to see are the worn out ones.

  • I used to have an 1887 in GEF condition, bloody lovely it was. This one above is alot nicer than minewas, and the date's nicer too! image

What i really like about these coins is that with the exception of the early mintings of 1887 the coins have concave fields. Which makes the obverse look as if it's in higher relief than the other denominations of the Jubilee type.

It does have nice relief, and thanks to Mr. Boehm, I need another 12 or so coins for the Vic. type!!!! image
