Gilligan's Island photo's from original card set

I received this email from someone that saw a PSA Gilligan's Island card I have on ebay. It's a pretty expensive card, which probably got his attention.

"I have the actual photo-print (same size as card without balloon comment). I have them from the original printing for the entire set. Is this something that would be valuable ?"

I emailed him back, to see if they were just reprints from the negatives and he replied:

"Actually, I was the person who pulled the prints out of the garbage bid.
Actually, the negatives were destroyed before I could retrieve those. "

He hasn't really offered them for sale, but I was wondering if anyone here thinks they have any value?

If they're real, I'm sure they would have plenty of value. How would you authenticate them though?

I buy a load of that kind of stuff from the Toppsvault - I would guess contacting them and see if they have any record of that is in order. It's hard to believe that they would toss this kind of thing - more than likely there is more than one set and this one "slipped" into the dumpster? Not accusing anyone - it's just that Topps seems to save everything.

Very good point, Mike. "I pulled it out of the garbage bin myself" isn't a whole lot different from "found it in my grandfather's attic under a pile of horse feathers"....

  • I did a search of the items he has bid on and they are all Gilligan's Island items. He seems to be a big fan of the show. I'm going to email him back and see if he will provide any more details. I agree with you Mike, Topps doesn't seem to have thrown anything away.
